Problem with this trait is it’s completely random (it even needs two random conditions to be met which is just shockingly bad), you can’t plan anything around it and in spite of that it has a stupid cool down.
Really not a fan of passive CD trait effects but a way they could make it semi-decent is tying it to an active skill. Something like:
“Mighty Blow, Zealot’s Defence, Whirling Wrath, Protector’s Strike, Smite, and Orb of Light Chills enemies on hit” 4 seconds, 30 second CD.
This would see play for sure and would actually be worth it’s mid tier trait slot. Whirling Wrath might be a bit too strong though but w/e, players can still act to mitigate the damage. GS is bad anyway imo…
Also it should get a frost blue flame effect/trail on your weapon when it’s available and an icon like Shield Of Wrath/Virtues etc. The frost effect would allow for counter-play as the enemy could see it’s up and it would simply look awesome!

Even when random, Glacial heart will still be useful because Guardian lack of snares.
Plus, Guardians aren’t suppose to be the master of catching enemies but rather be the “defend this area” guy. I will still find usefulness in RNG chill. When enemies get chilled, I know for sure that is the cue to use whirling wrath. It is better to have some huge dps than zero dps.

I would love this trait if it affected all my weapons. It is pretty nice on hammer, but i’d prefer to be able to use it on other weapons as well since I don’t use hammer that often. I’ve really started to like single handed sword/focus with greatsword.
I love the idea of giving it a visual effect. Glowing blue weapons are kinda awesome.
Its garbage and if people find it useful is more or less a sign that they arent aware of their options.
Playing with random cc in wvw/pvp is just bad, why? Well cc is used to mitigate damage or do damage and for a cc to be efficient at that you need to have control over when they hit so you can trigger them before your burst or prevent the enemy burst.
This is why instant cc, even with short duration, in other games are so powerful, they are on demand.

Revamp it!
They have revamped it twice and apparently the devs still aren’t seeing why it just isn’t good. RNG is never ever a good thing.
A good idea I read sometime ago was to change glacial heart to effect virtue of justice. Every 5 attacks (4 if you trait supreme justice) your attacks chill your target for two seconds. Give it a short ICD so things like hammer auto attack doesn’t permanently chill the target.
Regardless anything is better than what we have now.

As long as this trait ICD doesn’t get lowered in the 10 sec range, it’s useless arguing about it.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.

There are sigils that are way better than this trait, it doesn’t make sense =/
Yeah the CD is waaay too long, on the last patch i got excited because i did’nt see in the tool tip that the cool down was there, so i quickly ran to test it and low and behold!!!!!!!!!!!!!……………… Its crap still. 90 second CD for maybe an AOE chill maybe not is doo doo for guards.

This Trait is next to useless. I will never use when there are better options for almost any build. Until the developers actually get serious about guardians and look over some of our more useless traits, this one and yes I am looking at you again Zeal Line. Then there are only so many ways we can customize.
I am not a fan of relying on the RNG for anything important and CC is important. I would rather just put a sigil on my weapon and hope it fires off with crits at leas then I don’t have to wait on that crazy cool down. Cause odds are it will fire off when you don’t want or need it too and when you do its on cool down again.
Problems with the skill:
-will only chill a single target on a multihit weapon —> unreliable
-depends on crits —> unreliable
-ICD —> unreliable
Now, if we want to keep it single target and keep it on the hammer, there is a simple solution:
-Banish applies 4 seconds of chill.
Banish is a single target skill, so the chill will always be spot on. The combination of chill and launch is particularly deadly and the chill will also help to offset possible stability on the target, making banish a bit less situational.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
Problem is a ‘full on’ launch is already a CC and kinda makes the chill redundant. It would be like adding a Daze on to a Stun. The new chill is actually AoE on up to 5 targets so you don’t have to worry about that restriction.
This is why I suggested Mighty Blow for hammer. Would help land the full auto chain and place the Symbol closer to where you want it, or even a Mighty Blow Chill after the Symbol to ensure you get as much damage from it as possible.
To be honest a bit of CC isn’t worth it, especially as it is 20 points in valor. (this is pve i’m talking about)
