Glacial Heart- cool down or not?
•Glacial Heart- it doesn’t now chill enemies on every crit-hit with hammer.
I’d tell you but I feel like it would take the excitement out of logging in and looking.

The tool-tip also says he can hit upto 5 targets. 30seconds isn’t that long
Its basically useless, it cant be controlled since you cant determine when it hits, even with as much as 50% crit chance. Key to any cc is that they are on demand, GH isnt. Using the aoe on it is more luck than skill.
And the damage component is less than the first hit of the chain so damagewise its a no go also.
So in short, its useless compared to the alternatives. Purity, strength in numbers, retrubitive armor etc.
It also only buff one weapon and any semi skilled player will keep swapping to utilize max out of the cool downs which means means the effective cool down is actually longer than 30 s. Depending on average attackspeed and crit chance i would say the average cool down is approx 33-35 s. 30 is max luck.
If you swap perfectly the cool down will be reached when you have your other weapon equipped, which even more increases the effective cool down.

If you swap to the same weapon type, the CD’s don’t refresh.

It’s an extremely awful design, a strong effect that neither you nor you’re enemy have control over.
It could have been triggered, for example, on mighty blow use (without crit RNG), together with some kind of icy animation around the hammer when available (and probably an ICD reduction too, since it would be easier to avoid this way).
Developers chose however to add it to the plethora of RNG effects we already had.
I strongly believe that having traits directly modifying some weapon skills / utilities for additional effects is healthier for the game than these ICD limited on-crit / on-hit procs.
with 100% chance, a shorter ICD and have it work on any weapon then it might be worth it.
Right now all I use it for is chilling my beer, and that doesn’t work well because Mighty Blow keeps smashing the bottles.
10-15s icd and for all weapons and i might consider using it in wvw and tpvp.
The only good thing about this trait is that when it was added the two shield traits got merged into one. I always thought it was funny that they were split into two different traits to start with. As for GH, I think everyone has already listed the problems with it, so there is no reason to beat a dead horse.
To Anet however if you read this. Could you please be so kind as to remove this waste of a trait and place something that might be useful in the slot. I doubt there are many if any Guardians who are taking this.
I’ve been using this trait since the patch to get a feel for it. So far, I think it’s almost passable, but needs a shorter cooldown.
The flair of 1.8k crits is nice, though.
Oh, edited to say, I’m using it in a meditation skirmish build. I took it over the fury on meditation change. I’m ok with that since I’m running Inner Fire.

I’d like to see it buffed too, but IMO that suggestion is ridiculous. With the current effect, changing the CD to 15 seconds is fine, but making it affect all weapons would make it too powerful. I’m not sure why you would only might consider it, especially in WvW. I would definitely use it if my GS could AoE 4s Chill every 10 seconds at best. Too many heads will roll LOL.

Lower the CD to 10-15 seconds, make the effect for 2 seconds, make it effect all weapons, move it to zeal.

One solution worth considering, the only issue is that its not fitting the hammer, hammer already got all the cc it needs, imo GH would be more fitting for sword/mace etc.

This is a good one, and maybe move symbol tratis to valor, those are defenitely more fitting in valor/honor than in zeal.

Second, if you are skilled and “play the cool downs” there are already better options in the game thru sigils. One of my setups in Tpvp with sword/scepter that has instant aoe cc on every swap, fully predictable and no need to crit. Do you find that ridiculous as well?
I don’t. I tried the Sigil of Hydromancy; It was nice, but I found a different Sigil that’s more useful in WvW. I was saying your suggestion was too powerful compared to the rest of Master traits, such as Empowering Might, Zealous Blade, etc. I agree 2 seconds would make more sense tho.

Could you elaborate more on why this would be a good idea? I personally love GS and would be happy if I could use Zealous Blade, but I found the Zeal trait line is kinda lame.

I suspect that is why he think a powerful trait should be moved there. Its also why i think AH should be a virtue since it would weaken valor compared to other traitlines.

I was running around with GH a bit last night in the Mad King’s labyrinth, but switched it out after a little bit. Its kindof neat when it actually lands on an enemy you want it on. Usually it just went off on the plastic spiders and rarely the champs. (I’d love for it to have hit the Lich lord, just to try throwing some slowdown on his health recharge skill, assuming that it’d apply. I’ve never really tested it.)

Yeah, pretty much, Zeal needs a boost, and our damage specs really need some CC to stay on people in WvW environments.

They should just remove this from the game if they are intent on leaving the 30 second cool down.
CC is really only good if we can determine when to use it. If I have to rely on a RNG to decide when I get to chill someone its not gonna fly with me. However, if they wanted to make this trait something useful, they could allow it to provide a chill bonus to our Virtue of Justice along with the fire, so that we could potentially use it every kittens, or pop virtue of justice for a chill. But even as I type this out I don’t even know if I would like that idea.
Issue is VoJ is too spammable with Renewed Justice so you’d probably want it to trigger on any Virtue but give it a 10 sec ICD
