Honestly, you ARE overreacting as are most people, but this always happens every single patch in almost every single profession forum. The realities? Longbow damage wasn’t nerfed 20%…true shot was. The buffs to Deflecting shot and Symbol of Energy have made your rotation more important and spamming TS less so. I’m all for that. It rewards good players and punishes button spamming monkeys.
I really don’t mean to sound callous, but you even basically said you don’t like LB3 because it’s hard to use. Well…practice with it and learn how to hit your target. Maybe stop strafing to aim if you are having issues landing it.
Vanilla got good buffs and that’s a good thing. If everybody is playing DH and other things get buffed maybe you should try them? Bunker shout guards got a pretty huge buff with this update.
To be completely fair…you are basically saying you don’t like the changes because they don’t cater to how you think the class should be played instead of adapting your playstyle with the changes. This is fundamentally not a developer problem but a player issue. I am not some great player, but being able to adapt to what professions strengths and weaknesses are at any given time is where player skill lies.
Adapt or perish lol. There are things I would love to see fixed, changed, whatever…but overall I’m pretty happy with where the class is atm.
Bunker shout guards got a pretty huge buff with this update.
Useless in every facet of the game except as WvW fronliner, a already dead game mode.

Thanks for clearing this up, all I kept seeing was one side of the argument I dont think once I saw anyone mention 3 skills got damage buffs, clearly they are trying to justify the argument which is very biased with neglecting this part of the patch on guardians if you ask me. I just started a guard and was wondering about these changes.

7 skills that literally nobody will probably ever use again. Like period. Buffed the damage on 2 kitten skills that no one uses the damage for. Buffed the damage on one skill but made it utterly useless vs players with IQs higher than 45.

Context is key. That nerf was to THE big damage button on THE big damage weapon of this piddling-dps class. CD reduction was minimal, if nice.

The bow is vital to several builds in all the game types. The nerf to true shot is a nerf across the board, because it’s used everywhere. Buffing some niche skills (an entirely minuscule gesture, as CD reduction hardly gives shouts the ‘umpfh’ to be on par with other support classes) doesn’t make up for the fact that they’ve beat up on an already sub par class.
We still have no spirit weapon, consecration, or ulterior weapon changes that we’ve literally begged for. For literal years. What’s ironic is that even with the old TS we could barely keep up in competitive play. Medi roaming is essentialy dead, as the old build has no aged well with power creep.
I’ve switched to Revenant for WvW play. None of my guild seems to mind.
Man you guys are still playing this class? I abandoned ship over to Elementalist about 5 months ago. And I enjoyed my buffs that I got (what’s a nerf?) including the completely bizarre Fireball buff.
Guardians were made better for WvW so I still do that, since base guardian is still a thing in large scale fights as well as them fixing stability, but I do understand how much they lack in pve and pvp. I actually play scrapper the most myself.
Not too happy with the DH atm, but I don’t want to be too bitter. After all, I never thought I’d see the day when Necro wasn’t trash tier pve, but here we are with those reapers.

Funny enough I took this time to 80 a guardian. The only character I never made it to max level on. I’ve always really like the guardian, but leveling was slow. The change to retreat means getting perma-swifteness just got way easier.
I played guardian a bunch last season in pvp, and I’m finding it to still be viable for random games so far. It still has that feeling of being slow, but when you arrive you change fights. I wouldn’t be against many improvements to guardian’s less utilized utilities. There are a lot. Either way, looking forward to playing guardian, especially that they are no a bandwaggon class. I hate playing dime a dozen characters.

I agree on the not liking playing dime a dozen characters/classes, but the guardian is hardly slow, they are very mobile in combat with the right weapons plus you can get that awesome teleport utility ability where you explode blue fire on to the enemies, with zeal trait for extra damage to enemies on fire its amazing.

Call it what you want but I consider it a nerf if our overall effectiveness lowered thanks to a patch.
How is “improving” impertinent skills that DH never uses and still can’t make work a “buff”? Not sure why they even mentioned it in the patch notes :/

People may say I am overreacting about the guardian changes. But nerfing longbow by 20% is clearly way too much. And vanilla guard gets buffs to virtues but DH does not. We got shout buffs. That explains everything all in itself right there.
Sorry, but I have been playing guardian for two years and I took pride in my skill as a player. We never had ranged until HOT we had advanced melee. Patch after patch guard gets shafted. I’m leaving the game until they fix trueshot the ONLY reliable damage we “Have.” You buff other classes making it impossible for DH to be viable in anything. PvE, and PvP we are not viable. Now we are only good for is a cage, empower, and a stability every 20 odd seconds. Now I can’t even roam in WvW because I do no damage. I am full zerk medi trapper. True shot was literally the only reliable damage. People could blink and dodge out of LB5 before it final cast and its easy to interrupt. LB3 is just a awkward reflect that rarely hits because of side to side walking its like watching a car drive by. LB4 is just a boon you stand in can’t rely on it for damage unless you get a lucky cage on an idiot and throw the symbol on him. Autoattack and Trueshot was the only actual damage we could count on.
Bye bye guildwars two. Maybe when anet fixes Longbow two I will come back. Seriously doubt they will next thing you know we will get spirit weapon boosts.

Pretty much. I’ll say the same thing here that I said in the necro forums: If you feel that strongly about it, delete your guardian, make a new character with another class. Stop it with the QQ and move on.
I got hit for 4K trueshot in WvW yesterday post-nerf and today in PvP for an even higher amount so it still does damage…
It might not do the absurd amounts as before but it still hits for more than some melee skills.

I understand you completely OP. I swapped classes. I don’t enjoy any of them but they’re the classes anet keeps buffing so fun times… Played my guardian near 4k hours since launch, not even 100 hours since HoT released.
I just want to understand how people want to play guardians? Im still leveling mind but I really like how unique and fast paced they feel compared to a typical tank class with heals and buffs.
While you can use it as a tank in PvE there are much better options. Healing is even worse, doesn’t even come close to the only 2 viable healing specs we have now (druid & tempest).
In pvp the bunker guardian melts super fast and just like in pve… doesn’t bring the support a tempest brings.
So you see, even if we keep the guardian’s “concept” in mind they’re underperforming.
I made myself Herald because of too many proofs of heroics and I must say….that thing….is a BEAST. I switched all my ascended gear from my guardian to that BEAST. So RIP guardian for now.

ya know what’s sad? heralds bot boons better than we do
the even sadder part is mace out perform sword in pve in terms of damage (u might as well use scepter)
our only true advantage is the loot stick and semi decent reflect

The funny part is when people don’t care about game modes that are just as relevant to the balance of the class as the one they care about. No wait, that’s the sad part. Pardon me.

Equip a GS. Setup some attacks with LB, teleport in and lay traps, and GS 2/4/3/5. With proper timing, you can wreck pretty well (excepting very skilled players, of course).

In otherwords … how well your class performs has less impact as the size of the group you are roaming with increases in WvW.
Therefore, the only people in WvW that are most significantly by individual class changes are the weirdos that run around by themselves.

Right. Got that, but why are you saying weirdos? Are you suggesting that people running solo back capping or flipping sentries and NPC/mercenary camps are weird? I guess it doesn’t matter but solo roaming is a valid playstyle and not really weird.

I personally define roaming as pvp in wvw. Flipping camps and sentries is playing wvw, just solo.
Ultimately it depends on what your intention is. I personally am not a fan of the roaming concept, so I can understand Obtena’s position. I mean, there’s nothing saying you can’t do both either, but roaming is demonstrably not considered in balance changes. So being upset at roaming imbalance is a bit empty.

or you could play another character or simply play another kind of guardian build…. saying true shot was the only damage source from a guardian,making a forum post about it and quitting the entire game is a bit overreacting…
I mean… were guardians weak before they got true shot on their new specializations?
