Great place to use Hammer Symbol Build?
The problem is that WvW is highly mobile in combat and Hammer auto-attack is pretty static. In PvE or on a node in sPvP that work, but otherwise you need to put your focus on Mighty Blow as a source of burst. Just a shame that you can’t take absolute resolution and glacial hearts together now.

So it is good in pve or no?
Hammer in PVE is solid. One of the weapons every guard should have, you might not use it often but it certainly has it’s place in our repertoire.
Pre Patch, Hammer build was about 10-5% less DPS than GS + Sw/F, which is more than decent.
Post Patch, Hammer build (Zeal/Radiance/Honor) is around 3-5% less DPS than GS + M/T (Zeal/Radiance/Virtues), which is even better.
The difference in DPS is so small, that it doesn’t really matter in dungeon. Which build you choose should be more about what each bring.
- GS build bring binding blades and since they have the virtue line, they can bring MoC, which Hammer build can’t.
- Hammer build give more survivability to your group with Protection, healing dodge and healing symbol. It also give you access to more dodge with Vigor and and Purity of Blood. And finally, it provide more group might than GS, which won’t really matter if your group already max it, but will help in pugs.

Hammer is good but in PvE a zerk mace/ scepter focus with symbol traits (zeal, radiance, honor) has the highest dps. Especially with Feel My Wrath.

Focus isn’t in the highest damage except for maybe pure scepter build. Torch is the new damage offhand. Scepter is also only good damage on large hit box enemies where it’s the best.
Slow, large hit box enemies. Which is a very limited list. Bloomhunger, Lupi come to mind. I suppose other exist in Open World, but in dungeon, i’m not sure. Maybe the ooze of path 1 arah when you can keep it in place.
One thing to consider is that you are putting down a lot of light fields in order to get to your dps… Not everyone around you might like it – especially in world boss fights.
That ship is sailed already. Guardian are too dependent on field anyway. You want to keep symbol uptime up as much as possible with either a GS + M/T or a Hammer build. Anyway, since PS warrior pretty much replaced all stacking ele, it doesn’t matter as much.
