Guardian 16th March Patch Notes
RiP FB gapcloser you will be missed.
Just trying them out, it doesn’t seem to change that much. They just won’t activate if something is blocking the way, but I can still use them to gapclose to targets outside of my range as usual
Garbage. I’ll force me to change from sword to scepter in PvP, pew pew pew. Don’t see a problem in WvW due in raid I did leave the guardian boat to the warrior one long time ago (probably will swich again to necro).
Meanwhile Renewed Focus is still buged: some skills that interrupts it can cancel the invulnerability despite supposely being a instant cast, and you both receive the damage and the elite is put on 90s cooldown. I can undertand that sometimes the game game lag/desync can make to miss your skills, but you must either receive the damage (so you didn’t cast RF and therefore can’t be in cooldown) or RF is in cooldown -and therefore you were invulnerable by 2 secs-.
RIP my guard (stability, wvw, pve) and rage to all for for sinking the guardian even more in the power struggle that doesn’t mean that i give up on him maybe its a good balance vs other professions, wvw and pve we shall se…..
So let me get this straight: They’re trying to add more verticality to the map design, and yet they’re taking away the ability to navigate vertically?
I don’t quite see the part where this is supposed to make sense.

You are supposed to walk there. With your legs. By moving them. Not by pressing a single button. Actually, Guards aren’t even getting hit by this too much. Weep for our lil’ shortbow 5 friends…

Everything works fine, if anything they fixed it so you don’t waste a port if it is an invalid port (i.e. a buff/fix)

All this will do is continue to make CC builds king. Knocked off the edge? Good luck, now you have to run all the way up by which time that warrior’s healing signet has already brought him back to full health.
And yes, this does hurt medi guards just as much as it does thieves because it’s a primarily melee-oriented spec. A ranger that’s knocked off of a structure can just shoot the enemy with a bow. A medi guard has to climb all the way back up.
It’s better now, actually. Prevents you from wasting it if you don’t have LoS. The amount of times I gambled that Flashing Blade would work and it didn’t work, well, I’m out of a 10 second cooldown on my teleport. Now you can just spam it until it works. Same with JI.

Burning appears to be bugged, and conditions in general are ticking inconsistently (making it somewhat op!)
Rip Stability. Guards have 5 secs on Stand your ground, and 2 secs on Hallowed ground, GG. Even Warriors have more with Balanced stance, 10 secs. Are Warriors the new support class? -.- Might aswell switch main. Fix this Anet.

Balanced stance= one person gets stability. SYG: five people get stability.
A huge buff for tomes and other transform skills that are very underused.

What support class? Balance stance is single target. Guardians still are the ones with aoe stab.
So the change just means you can’t teleport up Clocktower/Keep anymore correct? But now you won’t have to waste a CD when the skill fails.

THIS !!!
the guardian changes on stability actual is the end of …. GVG guilds !
organized guilds have not a single chance against bigger numbers. i saw it today in my server . we tested everything from full concentrate builds or 4 shout guardians and nothing is working good anymore …
today all of our gvg guilds wiped and wiped and wiped all over the time from bigger numbers .
the only fix is to change the stand your ground to at least 12 seconds and halloween ground to 3 seconds per pulse and at least wall of reflection should reflect every enemy skill .
it is not logical the wor to not reflect the higher damage skills . higher damage should always have a risk !!!
p.s. ofc there is always the option the wvw guild raids are full warriors raids and somewhere in the back line a guardian waiting the order from guild leader for tome of courage

It was broken in the first place that you could put two guardians per party and be almost completely immune to CC, because let’s face it it would’ve been almost impossible to strip the stability. Now you actually have to time it for when you need it instead of just putting it up and forgetting about it. This should also greatly reduce the nonsense of stacking insane amounts of retaliation from blasting light fields since you’re going to cut the number of guardians per zerg by half. People will adapt, guardians will still be used, everything will be fine.

Games evolving from your kittenty stab blobbing. This is a good patch in moving the game forwards. Get used to it or leave instead of wasting data whining.
Pathetic. Once again they push untested changes and are using the gaming populace as guinea pigs, and of course will sweep it under the rug.
Elite focus… 1 stack every 3 seconds? WTF? Is their brain in their head or up their kitten

Well it´s like they changed the stability only for pvp/wvw. Atleast they could make it so you could stake the time for it too, just a lil bit.

ofc it is a good patch and moving the game forwards to blob , the blob and the blob matters .
actually from a sport game mode the wvw for gvg guilds that give money to anet from transfers became the numbers heaven .
is this a step forward or to nowhere ? all say to nowhere and players that do not belong to wvw guilds are leaving the maps because of bigger numbers from enemies when the outnumber buff appears and you still like it ?
this change is like hambow warrior / full kit enginner /dd ele . changes that make the builds to stab/knock/immobilize/hit while you are in stealth you from full hp to 0 without a single chance to deal with it . this is the formula that archeage follows and all people are leaving it. if you want support exploited over-cc to enemies keep supporting it .
at the end the game will fail if it continues following this formula and make cc OP.
and as for the tests … enjoy a new feature from new camera . see behind the wals without using any exploit is one of the new features , right ?

Right, because this isn’t the first time they’ve made changes to the game without taking matters into context and always bug free so we should mindlessly accept everything without question. Oh, and I’m sure there’s some PTR right?
Meanwhile, I’d like to discuss something about actual game mechanics like those about Elite focus, but considering you’re not really capable of typing much besides two letters, we’ll just leave it at that.

That’s not true.
First of all, stability doesn’t magically prevent you and your team mates from suffering damage, so under enough dps pressure all the stability of the world would mean nothing: a conformed raid of well coordinated guild can be melted just by pure damage if confronts enough AoE damage.
Second, the most used combinations in formal raids are either having 2 guardians + 2 warriors and 1 necro x party (with the backline based on eles, necros and thieves orbiting the heavy train) or having a pure heavy backbone with g+w and the focus party (necros, eles) again orbiting the heavies. In both circumstances, stability was achieved mostly by rotating the Stand Your Ground! between the guardians. Problem is, SYG is a short duration stability with a medium cooldown, and most of fights in G vs G or G vs Zerg stand for minutes. So the use of SYG require a lot of skill, experience and coordination. And I have no reasons to blame people which took the effort to learn to play and to hone their skills for crushing a bunch of wannabees doing PvDoor despite being outnumbered. I like when a game rewards skill, not numbers or coverage.
Third, in the past the game already had tools enough to disable stability (mostly using necros to reverse boons, plus eles with static fields), if they weren’t enough to wrek a guild was due poor coordination, bad timings or crapy dps, which in any case was fault of the blob, not the system.
Fouth, the main reason due guilds with barely 25 players can crush blobs of 50+ players -and will keep the same- is due sustain and skill. The new changes may or not may change a bit the meta, which is irrelevand due bad blayers will keep dying again and again no matter how much you put in a zerg due that’s what happens when you rely on numbers and passive stats ainstead of experience, practice, awareness and skill.
I must say also that I don’t play raid guardian since the last spring, I get bored about them. So personally I don’t care too much about the changes.

You seem like you haven’t been into the game to see how these changes actually affect the game, meanwhile you show your immense knowledge on bug and glitch testing when comparing a small controlled sample size to a huge uncontrolled one.
Get into the game, try out the new changes when you have tested them for a week then come back and tell us you are completely against them.
Anet are not trying to kill the game and there are always reasons behind their changes to the games, even if you cannot see it yourself.
Sometimes an open mind helps buddy. Good luck.

Actually, you have a point here. But it does require me to give them the benefit of the doubt and I can’t say I won’t approach it with a high level of skepticism; let’s say the trait system and NPE just never worked out for me and I could have seen that coming from a mile away, among many other big changes to the game. Oh sure, it actually won’t affect me that much, but grain of salt after all, unless they care to explain themselves more.
ANdddddddd I log on to broken guild chat. Moving on. I’ll come back in a bit after I play a bit… if I can play lol.

WvW is broke. They can’t fix it.
Orbs, JP’s, siege, raging, map complete, remove, change, guild vs guild, more rage, more complaints, more changes now obsidian sanctum is duel area. List goes on and on.
Sad when a game dating back to 2001 played 10x better at the same format of play they obviously tried to copy but fell. Partly due to 3 meta’s of play in which case there hasn’t been a designer or publisher that was able to successfully balance them. Why they don’t understand this is beyond me.
Regardless, we play for fun then when a patch drops that is totally broke and all of this should have been caught does give us some small right to complain. I mean, seriously. Just be honest for a minute and say – I’m QA or a dev, I install the game on an internal server…and you couldn’t find any of the bugs we are all facing now?
/rolls eyes.

Not sure who came up with the idea for 1 stack of stability every 3 seconds on Elite Focus. So not only do we have to trait 4 points to get the stability every other transformation gets, we get a third of what they get with no trait investment? How in the world does that make a bit of sense?
the only fix is to change the stand your ground to at least 12 seconds and halloween ground to 3 seconds per pulse and at least wall of reflection should reflect every enemy skill .

Now I will never unsee this.

i am also not playing so much my guardian ( i am playing more my eng now ) but the truth is that the wvw guilds based on the stability to turn the impossible to possible against groups that didn’t knew all the game mechanisms or against not good organized groups or bigger groups .
the wvw meta should never based to more numbers to be better of improved .

Still works. The patch actually gave us more teleport spots, for example, you can now teleport up the platforms near the Keep point in Forest. It also made your teleports not go on CD if it fails outside of combat.

I know a lot of people invovled with the PTR. The problem with the PTR is they only invite people who kiss their butt and anyone who tries to offer a negative comment gets shouted down by the fanboys already there. It serves little or no purpose besides finding a few bugs.
The problem is that over half the population plays ranged classes and wants to sit at range and bomb a way and let build and gear determine the winner. That is what we will now have in WvW with the current changes.
Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)
Well I’ll just wait for longbow lol.
Thus far, I’ve just been having to dodge more. Although I’ve been having fun using mines and slick shoes on zergs on my engie, and I’m like getting 0 stability from anyone. =p

Or maybe, just maybe… you take off the stability crutch and rely upon more than just stack blob’n through baddies w/o thinking about the consequences of no CC Immunity and L2Terrain.
Now that people know they can strip stability with a cc, we’re seeing 10x more ccs out there. Why not make regen strip poison, or stacks of bleeding? Why not let us see invisible people? why not make swiftness strip immobilize or cripple? Why not make teleport so you can’t actually teleport?
Anet is going down the wrong path and killing fun gameplay. I was just watching Red Guard and the days of those epic battles are over. Yarr!!
Thus far I see the problem as ranged being dominant is that nobody wants to engage first and that leaves the melee classes pretty bored… espeically since guardians are the only ones without a reliable ranged option sans scepter which hardly counts, so like I said: longbow!
In terms of actually trying to deal with the situation, I’m going 0/0/6/2/6 and picking up shielded mind. As randomly toting f3 for the few stacks of stability isn’t worth it, it’s now used reactively and the extra 3 stacks of stability from indomitable courage is used for the group to get away. The loss of dodge heals, THM, or EM isn’t really that big of a deal given how combat is now more about skirmish anyways.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
