Hi, im Magician, i love my guardian, and im trying to adapt to this new patch, i have my Dragon Hunter, but i was wondering about the new amulets and the new one “Mercenary Amulet” its awesome to bring back the burning build, i have been playing a lot with this build, and let me tell u, im stomping a lot of ppl, even druids. Basically u just need to jump with ur 4 torch skill and 2 sword skill, or JI.

The symbols will do a lot of dmg, also ur aegis blocks will burn them, u have enough sustain due the mercenary amulet atributes. The healing and cleansin of the meditation with the trait Monk Focus its just awesome.

U can switch the maze and shield for the Hammer or GS, even with the Staff for supporting.
Ill give u the link of my build, Gw2 editor doesnt have the New Amulet so just used Carrion Amulet, swap for Mercenary.

Im working on this Build and just like this, its working really GOOD. I feel like its better than DH and stronger on Team Fights.

Personally, i havent been fighting against that many condition dealers so i would 100% drop contemplation of purity for purging flames.

I am also not a fan of zeal line for burn builds. Usually you dont do enough power dmg really for the 7% dmg to matter, the 190ish condi from kindled zeal is nice but not game breaking, and shattered aegis is nice but not amazing as ur condi focused and only have a few aegis’s

U could go virtues for more justice procs or utility, or go dragon hunter to get hunters determination and hunters fortification. Otherwise u just dont get but otherwise this is basically the burn build i ran a LONG time ago, i always felt sword shield/focus with scepter torch was better for having a ranged option but its whatever your comfortable with.

But if its working for you, ROLL WITH IT!

Focuses in bursting/burning /crippling. Change JI for Smite Condition against heavy condi teams. Unscathed Contender can give a damage bonus but prefer to have Master of Consecrations for Purging Flame’s cleanse and burning damage.

I think Hunter’s Determination is absolutely needed for the Stability and free stun break when you’re getting heavy focused.

Piercing Light complements HD trait and Purification. Purification trap heal is a must imo. Shelter can get interupted all too easily and can’t heal for nearly as much.

I’ve lately been using Virtues/Val/DH with GS and Scepter/Focus. Haven’t really gotten LB to work efficiently with the burn burst build.

I am running a DH burn guard build with Sword/Torch and LBow for ranged. It was mostly for fun but it actually works really well. Several fights where I downed 1vs3’s (could just be bad players though). Hunters Determination and Hunters Fortification works really really well at reapplying aegis to retrigger Amplified wrath. It also serves as a decent condi remover when you block attacks. For medium range teamfights at points Symbol of energy is a AOE burn that really hurts. Also the Wings of resolve and shield of courage are really good defensive utilities with wings giving a decent attack when you land for those kiters, so it serves as a gap closer as well, so does Spear of justice with the pull effect. I run with the heal trap and and Test of faith as the only traps. Also with mercenary amulet you actually have pretty decent surviveability.

Would love more discussion and potential builds in this thread. Anyone else tried a DH Burn build?

Supreme Justice and Permeating Wrath is what makes a burst burning build. I would definitely prioritize Virtues over Radiance for that reason.

Virtues GS does insane aoe damages (between 5-7k ticks per person in a group), can gain fire field with gs#3 leap in pf, and additional cc with gs#5. Though sword/torch is ok too if you really like that weapon set.

You’ll definitely have kite issues, so you want to run with a group or duo. Same goes for sword/torch weapon variant as well. The burst burn guard (SJ & PW traits) excells in group fights as oppose to 1v1; DH power is a better 1v1 build in comparison.

I switched to Valor/Virtues/DH on my mediguard (GS and Scepter/Focus). Will I have better luck running this set up with condi/burn gear (vs. power)?

I saw a video of a guy in PVP testing condi vs. power on a warrior and condi won hands down for overall damage; will this be the case with guard also I’m wondering?

For Guardian, you’ll do more AoE damages if you can hit 3 or more people at once and/or you can keep a constant upkeep of burns without them being cleansed. Most people are constantly cleansing and they’re not in groups 100% of the time… so the performance of burn guard amongst the power creep has lowered compared to power DH.
