Guardian Fractal Build?
For high fractals you will need a staff or scepter as an off set weapon combo as you will not be about to melee not bosses if you’re not in pvt armor.
I play with a greatsword as my main weapon with a scepter/focus or staff for high level fractals.
I melee bosses if i can in s/f but if my entire party just ranges them then i swap to scepter focus and do the same. I use sword/focus with scepter/focus on offhand because people range a lot in high levels. You could use shield instead of focus but it isn’t as good
You can melee all bosses at high level fractals with berserker gear actually, as long as you have the Agony Resistance and know how to dodge. As mentioned sword/focus is superior to sword/shield, but scepter/focus if you really need to range is also an option. For Fractals Hammer is better to be honest, since you can get permanent protection that reduces a substantial amount at damage, due to mobs at higher levels hitting quite hard. So that should always be part of your equipment unless another guardian already has that covered. Greatsword is useful for places you need to pull several mobs together quickly like the Uncategorised Fractal (the 4 golems), Snowblind Fractal (Ice Elementals) and Volcanic Fractal (Lava Elementals).
Wall of Reflection should really be your reflect since it lasts longer than using shield, as well as reflect the damage back instead of just absorb it.
For a hammer build you could go something like 15/15/0/20/10 with 10 trait points left over to use where you like. Or just have a look at obal’s video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=girefVuoAuk)

Please note that since I can’t change my trait lines inside a single run, i chose a trait set viable for all weapons and not specific to a single one.

That’s why I love my 10.30.0.5.25 build. Great 1h Dps and great scepter Dps for when the group is range heavy.

The hammer build is best for fractals which is 15/15/0/20/20 or 15/25/0/20/10 if you have someone else with condition removal for max dps. You would change secondary to gs for grouping mobs, staff for running, kiting, or pulling mobs and cc them at start, and sword/focus for extra blocks at harder bosses like archdiviner. The gs sword/focus build is best for dungeons other than fractals.

^ Best advice in the thread so far. Obal is also the most knowledgeable guardian I’ve seen on GW2 forums when it comes to Fractals and I probably spend way more time than I should, lol.
i use 10,30,0,5,25 in pugs anyway cause they often range a lot of bosses and the scepter hits much harder with the s/f build than with the hammer build
