I’ve been playing a guardian based on blocking and healing himself mainly while spreading boons to his allies whenever possible. I think so far it’s been working rather well for me, but now that I’m getting higer level in fractals my teammates seem to be struggling with healing a lot.

So I’ve been thinking if it wouldn’t be better to go more heal orientated? But I honestly think that it’s really not the forte of a guardian. I’m not sure, but it seems to me that a guardian works best as distraction, soaking damage and sharing boons with his team while e.g an ele and maybe even some engineers could just aswell heal more.

If I go more healing, I will be more squishy myself and lose even more vitality. I’m currently running power/vit/toughness with some added focus on vit and still sometimes I can get nearly oneshotted. I’m currently running 0/10/30/10/20, but I’m thinking about maybe just getting 0/0/30/30/10 for more healing?

Your thoughts?

EDIT : mostly running with mace/shield and gs with a scepter for ranged, but thinking about switching out gs for hammer for added protection.

I’m not exactly a tank, I’m a distraction. I just make sure I try and survive the boss his damage. If he tries to swing at me, I can take it/heal it/block it. But if he does so at a teammate, they die and are kittened. It has carried some of my PuG’s to lvl 20+

Well I ‘tanked’ upto lvl 20+ with properly evading, a lot of blocking and using boons. Just that I can’t support and tank at the same time.

Well I can, just not as effective as a guardian completly focused on that.

Im still tanky, but Ive noticed that agony still kills even with 15 agony resistance, so we try to bring 2 guys that can survive a bit better than the other guys, and revive. A lot of fights are revive dps revive dps (I took the trait to give the shield bubble when reviving, its awesome btw)

Agony barely kills us with 15 resistance tbh, maybe only the charr boss and the jade max are a pain. You can evade, reflect a lot as a guardian and I can easily outheal the rest as a guardian. From what I’m reading here, I think my build might be better than I anticipated from all the reactions I got here and from friends

I’m running 0-5-30-30-5 altruistic healing build. I run with 3 shouts (flexible) with soldier runes for aoe condition removal. I do very good damage and am extremely tanky. I constantly keep 5-6 stacks of might on the entire group, have a plethora of boons with my shouts and traited virtues (just the 5 points). I typically run with 2 of the 3: hammer/staff/sceptor-focus.

I’m not at level 20, so I couldn’t speak to that, but seems like individual survivability will be important as you move up. At low levels a strong support could carry you through, but I doubt that wil be the case in the upper levels. (Don’t read this as me frowning on support, I bring as much support as I can while maintaining my own viability.)
