Guardian Grandmaster traits
Am I the only one who wants more access to cripple/chill :/
No alot of us want chill or some other kinda soft CC. It does not seem like we will ever grt it though
burning on crit would have been nice since it will have synergy with fiery wrath and the radiance trait
The worst part is, a 33% Burning damage bonus still doesn’t compensate for the DPS loss by investing in condition damage. Maybe it will once Ferocity comes into play, we’ll see.

Seriously. The 3k HP bonus ought to be in Zeal. It might be useful there. Maybe.
Proposed Radiance XIII: Undying Flame – Burns applied by you may not be removed or reduced in duration.
Still no changes to buff our kittenty mobility, our kittenty access to soft CC, or our mediocre condition removal. Good deal.
So disappointed.
Aegis should have been a Master Zeal Trait, to pair it up with Shattered Aegis.
I can safely say the Dev’s really dont’ get it.
They are FORCING the use of 2 Trait lines?
Everyone, EVERYONE, has stated time and time again, Valor and Honor are FINE. In fact, they’re really really good…. SO STOP kittenING WITH THEM AND FOCUS.
Change what’s needed ANET. Zeal & Radiance. Provide some sustain within those trees, allow us to EFFECTIVELY spec into a DPS build w/o sacrificing EVERYTHING to get to standard deeps that every other class has… because 11k HP and a 79 hps Resovlve is NOT kittenING SUSTAIN.
WvW → Apply to Scenario’s larger than 3vX
Devs: “Guards need Condi, let’s just increase their burning damage, that should make them happy”….
Everyone: “WTF are they doing to this class?”
Devs:“Giving you Condi options!”
Everyone: “Riiiiiiiight”. /re-roll /Eso.
It’s like the 3k hp trait is the best one =(
It makes me sad to see these. They could have done so much more like increase mobility, give us access to other conditions (weakness, chill, cripple, or bleeds) , do something with our spirit weapons, or if they are so focused on burn then (as I said before) let us apply burning on crit.

To me Communal Defense will work great with a Mace Support Guardian, Mace 3# has a 15 sec CD block, so will have always a block ready to spam Aegis each 20 sec.
In my opinion that’s the best one but they stuck it in valor so I’ll never get to use it.
I only use valor in wvw, an i usually run meditations in wvw
I can’t see myself using any of these traits in spvp. Nearly all of them are useless in comparison to the GM’s we already have.
-Granting more burning damage when you cannot bury it makes this trait even less appealing. If you want to make Condi-Guard useful, add more conditions.
-Scaling ret off of Condition doesn’t seem like it’ll be very strong, especially in spvp. Not to mention that when you’re speccing condi-guard, you don’t have much access to boons overall.
-Granting Aegis every 20 seconds upon block is incredibly underwhelming. Mainly because it’s competing against AH/MF which are infinitely stronger. This could be useful in WvW but that’s about it.
-3000 more Vitality….very boring. Also it’s competing against one of the(if not the) strongest traits we have. This one felt like it was just thrown in there without any thought-process involved.
-15% of anything in this game isn’t really noticeable. While more endurance is useful, this won’t deter Guardian’s from using actual traits that benefit themselves(and the team).
It would be fun if Anet would release overpowered traits instead of boring, castrated ones. Then we can say “it was good while it lasted” when they inevitably nerf it instead of “I’ve never bothered.”

I’d be fine with that providing that they’re interesting, otherwise they’re just as bad.
Shattered aegis causes bleeds (makes sense due to a magical shield breaking) Torment on crit in radiance (call it punish the wicked or something) leave burning as it is.
This is literally ALL we need to make an effective condition build, 3 conditions that can be decently applied, any others we want can be filled in with sigils/runes. it would lead to 10/30/x/x/x with 30 points to give us some sustain in valor, group support in honor or virtue, and would also give us some AoE condition potential if we wanted to go 30 into virtues.
Yet instead we get a /semi/ buff to burning (considering kindled zeal was ALREADY THERE) and a change to retaliation, which wont even be worth it simply because it was something that is already included in power builds. The only true buff we got was some slight burning damage, and that is it.

I’m really glad I resorted to cynicism instead of misguided optimism about the future of Guardians. It saves you a lot of disappointment in the long-run.
Anything mentioned about spirit weapons? Nope?

I think the stuff they mentioned can most definately help my condi guardian. since you’ve got a 100% uptime on burning through it triggering whenever you block and whenever you attack, add to that the aegis that you get when you block and aegis as a block can also again trigger burning and burning can remove boons… Its quite usefull I think.

Without any condition duration improvement still gives 2,5 seconds of burning.
This translates to about 2.5k dmg for every single time they hit you while you’re blocking.

at first i was like " WTF is this 3K HP in honor?"
but then i thought some more;
actually some of the changes are really nice, they are situational , but nice.
you also have to remember that you will be able to switch all your traits on the fly!
that means if the content requires you to have 6K HP more you go honor.
need more aegises for the whole party? you go valor
targed immune to regular damage but vulnerable to condi? go zeal.
need provide many dodges to group? instantly go virtues.
I think the new traits add a lot to guardian ability and increase its kitten nal of options to every encounter. also WWW commanders will go for the extra 3K HP no brainier…
I agree the 3k hp will have some use. It isn’t the most creative trait but it definitely isn’t absolute trash.
Health is a soft counter to condis. And if you are running some sort of med build the PoV isn’t useful. And with the ferocity changes its possible our honor line will look better for med builds.
I wonder if the virtues trait stacks with vigor?
I want to wait until the patch hits with the ferocity changes before I fully judge on everything, though I share the same frustrations with everyone else.

Those new GM are not the best since they lack once again in offensives GMs. So for another year you can’t be the offensive guardian you may want to be.
I can see some sort of synergy between communal defense ,shattered agis, and pure of heart. Also if it extends the burn on block procs to your allies i can see a lot of aoe burning.
If it uses your condition damage then i suppose you would negate the hit for your allies and yourself while dealing maybe around 2k damage from the shatter and the burn tick per person.
Wouldnt that be a lot spread mitigation, damage and burning in small fights? Or is my thinking wrong?
At 360 range you will never see that kind of thing in WvW because of how mobile small fights are. 360 range means you are lucky to hit one or two in your five man team.
