Hi,

I’ve been playing Guardian since the game launched, but just randomly played weapon combo’s. Can anyone help me with a good build for PvE?

Depends on what you’re wanting to do, really. You have different kinds of pve options – damage, support/harass, tank, etc.

I typically run a full cleric (25% power, 25% toughness, 50% healing) suit with 30 honor/valor and 10 radiance for pve and mace/shield with a staff backup. I kill pretty slow but I just about cannot be killed. Mace/shield for tanking and staff for support/travel.

Always have a ranged offhand, I like Scepter/Shield but Scepter/Torch is good too or plain old staff. Scepter has twice the range though.

Ive found for main weapons mace/shield or greatsword yield the best results. Sword and hammer just are not very good till later game with appropiet talents.

Split the differance between Power/Vitality till 40+ then start feeling out other builds.

I run an Altruistic Healing Virtue of Justice spammer. Attributes are 0/15/30/20/5. Stats are as balanced as possible. Knight’s (or Hearty if you’re lower level) on the Chestplate & Leggings, Valkyrie (or Strong) on the rest. Jewelry to balance. Greatsword & Staff for weapons.

Major Traits are:
VI: Blind Exposure
V: Purity, VI: Retributive Armour, XI: Altruistic Healing
III: Writ of Exaltation, IX: Two-Handed Mastery

The key traits are Renewed Justice (15 Radiance), Inspired Virtues (5 Virtues) and Altruistic Healing. Vigorous Precision helps as well.

Whenever you apply a boon, even to yourself, you get a small heal…and you get this heal per stack of boon. So if you activate Virtue of Justice and get 3 stacks of Might because of Inspired Virtues, well that’s 3 heals you get. Vigorous Precision means you get a small heal whenever you Crit. Empower (Staff #4) gives you 12 stacks of Might on all allies and then a small Heal. It’s able to give back some 6k+ hp in large groups. With all the points into Valour you get a lot of extra Crit damage, so it’s worthwhile to have a good Crit chance. Sigil of Superior Strength is also a good consideration with the boons it can apply on Crit.

With all the extra Healing this is a rather forgiving, survivable build that can take you through just about anything short of a dungeon and let you take on two veterans solo without issue. Champions are an issue though. It’s ok for Dungeons, but doesn’t provide as much support as you would be giving with Mace & Shield, for instance.
