I haven’t tried any of the interesting new builds on guard since the specialization update and I have mostly been playing medi and bunker back and forth. Since the patch medi just seems outclassed most of the time against anyone with decent mobility. Yet my biggest grip about playing medi guard is if I ever get dazed more than once I suddenly feel useless then inevitably die. How do you guys deal with being dazed multiple times.

It could also be the hard fact that i might need to l2p as I only PvP causally. Most of my trouble comes from mesmers and the condi pressure from signet necro and trap ranger; not to mention i could never imagine killing any form of ele.

Mobility is our biggest weakness. Much so that every class can beat us 100% of the time simply because they kite us. Our footing; being at the right place at the right time, will govern the guardian’s overall performance.

Survival is going to depend on how fast you pop a stunbreak + shelter/renewed focus during high burst situations. You can also use Judge’s Intervention on the furthest enemy to get away. You will still be in the vicinity of danger but trust me, it can save you.

Other than that, dodge/aegis/blind at the right moments, remove yourself from high AoE dmg effects and don’t get bursted down. People tend to target Guardians mid fight because they’ve exhausted their cooldowns (it’s why people run bunkers) so make sure your utilities count if you use them.

Thanks for the tips! After playing a bit more today I can see how important it is to use focus block and blinds at the right time. I have also noticed that it is a bit more my fault as I seem to put myself in 1v2 situations all to often ):D

EDIT: Another question. I have read around the forums and still being kinda noobish with cleansing teammates when playing bunker. What are ideal and optimal situations where I need to cleanse; or it’s a safe point that the next time I need it I’ll have it off cd. I often run into situations where my teammates are suffering from conditions so i pop a cd or 2 then next thing I know they are back to similar stacks. Should I wait a little longer and risk them being burst?

I would have to agree with this. Melee classes tend to need mobility in order to keep their targets in range of their weapons. This puts them at a distinct disadvantage to ranged opponents unless they can keep in range AND get more bang on their hits than ranged classes can.

I personally don’t see that second part in play in GW2. Ranged attacks seem to do just as much if not MORE damage than melee ones do despite them being easier to apply. Not to mention if you dodge a melee attack, you are now out of range of the weapon and your attacker has to catch up to hit you again. This also does not apply to ranged weapon attacks.

As for the first part, at the moment I just run with Travelers Runes to keep the mobility up that I need. I don’t like being trapped into just one rune set and I did try Runes of the Pack for a bit, but the swiftness proc on them just does not always work when you need it to and is unreliable. I did watch a few matches in sPvP and the Guardians I saw that were doing well were also all running Travelers Runes. So that is one way I know to help.

There may be more.

Thanks.
