Q:

I have a 47 guardian… I’m doing the 2h GS build and I was wondering what stats should I use to accompany this build. I know I need power to do damage and vitality for health, etc, but what is a good balance for all around leveling and pve?

When you hit the dungeons try out this guide:

Not sure if this is the ‘2h gs’ build you are referring to.

Always keep your gear up to date as you level, especially if you intend on jumping into places like Ascalon catacombs early on (lvl 35)

Power/precision and (once you have the levels) critical damage will be of great use to you. Most content for open world leveling is exceptionally easy and you won’t really need any vitality or toughness. Having the dps will help you power through hearts quicker and having a 1h sword on along with your GS will make running around easier as you can leap and blink from mob to mob. You can also take along with you ‘retreat’ and ‘Save yourselves!’ to keep your swiftness going as you run around and alternate between GS and staff for the swiftness symbol.

When/if you do intend on hitting pve dungeons try starting off with knights gear, then when you understand the fights ease yourself into full berserker for maximum effectiveness.

When you’re leveling you’ll be changing gear so often it isn’t worth worrying about. I found it that in PvE your leveling experience relies more on having gear with an item level requirement closest to your level – this should provide enough stats & defense – and it relies on what weapon you use. I didn’t learn until later that the GS makes leveling the Guardian pretty easy and painless.

If you really want to pay attention to certain stats on gear try to keep it around the stats you mentioned. You probably won’t need Condition Damage or Healing Power just yet. Power should be priority and then based on how you feel in terms of survival/dying, toughness or vitality, with precision taking last place.

At least that’s how I feel. It’s only PvE and when leveling you don’t need to take your gear choices super seriously. Just don’t be level 55 with level 30 gear.

Usually, for a levelling Guard, it’s

Power > Vit > Prec > Tough > Crit damage

All other stats are usually not that great at these levels.

Oh, 15 in radiance and 5 in virtues is really powerful in PvE
