Beyond aesthetics, are there any racials worth using or race based builds?

I’ve been searching, but I’ve only found old, old threads… would like some more recent perspective.

For PvE? Not really. I guess you might make an argument for Sylvari or Humans.

In WvW, I hear that Snow Leopard is pretty awesome, but Renewed Focus is my general preference.

Snow Leopard is a little overrated, frankly. It’s a 4 minute escape ability and that’s basically all it is. And if you forget to untarget your attacker when you Charge, well… so much for that.

I hear Hounds of Balthazar are pretty good, and the Asura utilities can be useful since they apply conditions.

I rerolled my charr in favor of the smallest Asura possible to run with the new Peacemaker mini (identical to confuse people in WvW, they’re nearly the same size despite it being a “mini”) and to reduce the ability for my enemies to identify my telegraphed skills.

Well, if you’re thinkign of going for a DPS guardian, you can always roll as a charr. They have a racial that gives you access to Fury, something the guardian doesn’t reliably have.

Yeah, there’s “Save Yourselves!” but that also pulls any and all conditions… which is something that can be a big hindrance for what could be a very flimsy build.

Also the artillery barrage skill is super neat.

They’re awesome, but their health is far too low.

Reaper of Grenth is great for keeping people close now that you can cast it on the move.

The human heal is really good for guardians. Almost as strong as signet but on a lower cooldown.
