Here is my take on Guardian and our weapon sets/skills back this up. We as a class are a cross between a Warrior and a Wizard. So basically we are Mage Knights. Does this include support, sure all the classses can fill in a support role even Thiefs. But we are not limited to that in any way, shape or form. We can do DPS/Tank/Support roles just like all the other classes. It will basically come down to how your speced and what skills/weapon sets your using. If anyone makes claims that we are a pigeon holed class and can only do support functions, then don’t listen to them, their clueless anyways.

I’m sure Gandalf is in the smallest health pool also, so yeah why not. We can use the Staff like him plus have access to the Sceptor/Focus. Which are also Mage items along with the Trident.

well after some testing i figure out that this build can beat anyone on 1 vs 1 situations

so try it out, in spvp i am strong, in wvw strong too can take one base alone (but better with one dmg you can take anything)

dmg is 2 spirit weapons plus hammer skill that down player, teleport and burn because in 90% situations they run away from you

Oh man! I hope I’m not too late for the QQ “oh noes we iz nurfed aggin! My I-win button broked!” festival…

It’s been my experience in the past that if your entire strategy for winning hinges on a single ability then you’re probably “doing it” (giggity) wrong. Taking a multi-facetted approach to combat and having a realistic understanding of your strengths and weaknesses- applying your strengths and compensating for weakness through strategic use of positioning and dodge maneuvers is what puts you in the winner’s circle, not twenty seconds of SY and the old “spin to win”. Taking advantage of imbalanced skills doesn’t make you a genius, it makes you human- being incapable of compensating for the loss of those imbalanced skills makes you inept.

If you find yourself unable, or unwilling due to excessive laziness, to figure out how to incorporate your favorite abilities into your strategy regardless of whether they have recently been “re-balanced” then i would suggest that you occupy your free time with something less cerebral… like a coloring book.

If you are somehow under the impression that the developers of this game are in some way, shape, or form attempting to personally punish you then i am begging you to please seek psychiatric counseling and take a break from all forms of electronic entertainment as you have certainly lost your mind and i don’t think it’s acceptable for you to shoot up your middle-school because Arena Net dropped the duration of “Save-Yourselves!” in PVP from 10 seconds to 5 seconds. Your class mates will not appreciate your unwarranted pre-pubescent nerd rage or psychosis.

The way I see it is the guardians are better at support then all other classes however does not need to be specced in support if the player does not want to support others. Just like a ranger and all other classes can be specced into support but does not provide as good of a support as the guardian.
But have their own area of expertise where we would otherwise as guardians fail at, like rangers having range and we do not or necros laying down conditions and at best we get to burn people.
And if you dont want to support but cant figure out a way do damage as a guardian there are many other fine classes out their to play.

Elementalist is the mage. Guardian abilities are protective and holy themed. Together with melee weapons and heavy armor, what does it make? Yeah, a paladin. A support class.

This argument is meaningless anyway. Guardians are a great offensive class and shouldn’t be pigeon holed into support.

Oh and, as a Warrior/Guardian/Thief player I can tell you this: SY! was overpowered.

i dont use SY at all i just use teleport when thieves run away to give them backstab fatality

Not important at all but interesting to me but don’t you think that’s a very limited definition of mage? Guardians clearly use magic and while a lot of it is protection based there is a lot that isnt either. Scepter and staff are not weapons that associated with standard cleric/paladin concept either. If it combines using magic (of any type) with hitting people with weapons I would say it is some type of fighter/mage class. Guardians and Mesmers both fall into that category.
