Guardian Silverwastes Build?
I run my mediguard roamer in SW w/ GS and Scepter focus and have pretty good luck. I also have Traveler runes to help run between forts. Mediguard is pretty easy to play, since it is a one trick pony (Judges’ intervention, pop all GS skills, switch to scepter to recover, repeat).
For bosses I’ll hit my normal bursts then back away and use scepter. Don’t be afraid to pop virtues and skills to help stay alive, and also disengage to recover.
Altruistic heals Shout Guard with GS/Hammer and zerk/knights gear can do some serious damage in Silverwastes.
Since the update though ive been running Supreme Justice, Permeating Wrath with Carrion gear and rounding up as many mobs as i can and AOE burning them. Using GS, Mace/Focus.
For vine wrath events you can switch to Staff or Scepter if you dont want to stay in melee. Staff is good as a support weapon to give all those might stacks.

I cry reading all these suggestions T.T
Pretty much, equip staff, press 1 all day long = profit
Run nomad gear so you can’t die. Equip all signets so don’t need to press any utility

Hahaha ^ that! I need to teach my cat how to do this.

Oh, well, I assumed he wanted to have fun and be useful

Exactly….for me its a toss up between equiping staff and pressing 1 all day or watching paint dry. Same enjoyment level.
I only recommend staff for Vine Wrath bosses if you find yourself dying too much in melee.

I’m not sure how anyone does extended SW farming without Netflix/Plex/whatever on a second monitor, regardless of build.
Make money while catching up on Sunny and Arrow and Carter and Flash and Archer and…well, you get it.

I suppose it depends on how much you play. I play for about an hour or so when i login (casual player) so i actually like to “play” the game.
I agree though, i dont think i could handle more than an hour of SW farming in one sitting.

People take my sarcasm seriously. If you wanna learn how to play melee properly for future challenging content – or dungeon or fractal, and wanna use SW as a place to get familiar with guardian, use dungeon build.

Use GS – Mace/Focus for defending forts. For the sigils, you may want to replace sigil of air with sigil of speed.
How Am I Supposed to Survive?
- Blind Spam – Virtue of Justice Spam, Leap of Faith, Ray of Judgement
- Block Rotations – Virtue of Courage, Retreat, Shelter, Shield of Wrath, Renewed Focus, Shield of the Avenger, Protector’s Strike
- Projectile Defense – Wall of Reflection, Shield of the Avenger, Sanctuary (if need be)
- Crowd Control – Binding Blades for grouping mobs to kill quicker, Line of Warding or Ring of Warding when luring to a LoS spot to keep them interrupted while you attack freely and blind them from behind the line/ring
- Dodge – You have some vigor from Vigorous Precision if you choose to bring it
- Condition Removal – Purging Flames, Absolute Resolution, Ray of Judgement, and Whirls in light fields, Cleansing Flame
- Perma Protection if you run hammer
- DPS – Stuff will die faster than you! Rallying off good dps is usually better than reviving.
Guardian is all about knowing enemies’ mechanic. Bring reflect, condi cleanse, stability as needed. For example teragriff, people are downed because the knockdown, use save yourself, stand your ground or indomitable courage trait to survive against that.
If you still have problem, tell us which specific boss you are having problem with.
Well, the bottom line : Please don’t use WvW or PvP build for open world if you want to be “useful”. But it’s your right to do so. Hell, you can even run staff guard with nomad gear and just press 1 all day long, people won’t care about it. If you still die with that, try warrior.

If you can survive without AH I really suggest hybrid builds with Radiance/Virtue/X for Silverwastes. Everything else is pretty much personal preference. I’m lazy and tried to tinker a build which doesn’t require much skill or weapon swapping.
It’s quite self explanatory, I guess. The build is strongest against a stack of mobs since you obviously stack more burns there. But it’s strong enough for soloing stuff as well. You should pay attention, though, because you’ll die like a fly if you don’t. GS for damage. Mace/Focus for defense. I’m very satisfied with the damage and can also provide support to allies. Statwise you could use Sinister but I’m poor.
Guardians running AA-Staff in Silverwastes are those people who make lines fail.
