Guardian Torch Suggestion
My idea:
Cleansing Flame
- Reduce hits from 9 to 4, adjust cast time
- Increase conditions removed per hit on allies
- Strip boon per hit
Removing the extended cooldown on Zealot’s Flame for using Zealot’s Fire was a good change. I think as it is that skill is now in a good spot, and with the added utility of boon strip on Cleansing Flame I think the torch would compete well for offhand choice compared to the focus.
It could even open up viability in different roles. Guardian is certainly lacking in the boon strip department with a single passive strip every 10s.
The blue flame is quite obvious, so I don’t think it would be OP with 4 strips on a channel.
Also, have it remove conditions from the Guardian as well.

If I had to choose between cleansing conditions on yourself or boon strip, I would take the latter. I don’t think it could do both on just a 15 second cooldown.
Fair enough. It just a suggestion to have one or the other.
I don’t think Anet will give Guardian option of a great boon strip, because it already is a heavy boon class. (4 consecutive boon strips is kinda OP) It’d be quite unfair for a class to do good in both categories.
Cleanse one of your conditions as added bonus is fair enough. Boon strip will just make this class OP in everything.
Personally I’d like a range increase on it so that it can properly do what it was intended to do (cleanse conditions from allies), but I think the idea of boon stripping is interesting too.

Considering what one is giving up to use the torch, I doubt that’d be OP (and if it is, then just reduce the number of boon strips). It’d also be far more interesting than just removing conditions from the user. Not every single support skill has to affect the user after all.

Also, it would be a channeled blue flame. Pretty obvious and easy to dodge. Necro focus has three boon strips on a single projectile on low cooldown. I don’t think the skill would be too OP over a 1.5s channel.
I think it would offer guardian a lot that it doesn’t have already. Both offensive builds with meditations and bunker builds would be able to utilize it. As it is, guardian bunker builds are falling behind and something like this could put them back into the mix.

Guardian is a strong boon class already, so if you give it both good access to boon strip AND boon application (not to mention good cleanse too), it’d be really unfair to all the other classes. If Guardian can become this strong, then all the other classes will have to get as many boons and as many boon strips as Guardian to compensate, which is alot of balance required.

Having a unique combination of capabilities =/= broken or unfair. The fact that torch guardians would have both strong boon application and boon strip (on an underused) weapon is irrelevant. The combination of those two things don’t randomly make it OP.
For the sake of saving the Torch
-Don’t nerf the amounts of hits it does (9x)
-Don’t nerf it’s condi (aoe?) cleanses
As for #5’s Condi Cleanses.. anyone else notice it doesn’t do that great of a job? I mean, it feels like it cleanses Only 9 conditions total… and not a teamwide cleanse of 1 condition per player per pulse.
Can some one confirm that?
