Guardians have up to 30 weapon abilities through their sword, hammer, greatsword, mace, shield, sceptor, focus, staff, and torch options. Underwater includes another 10 to boot.

To be fully viable for most situations, or any unexpected, it is likely you are expected to carry all of these weapons for your class. As each weapon may offer utility for an encounter that could help beat it.

On top of this we have 3 healing spells, 23 utility abilities/spells, and 6 elite options.

Traits also afford us up to 7 Major Trait slots, each with 6 to 12 options for each depending on how a person fills out their traits.

Lastly there are virtues that all have their own function to help in various situations as an active or passive, of which there are 3 of these.

This doesn’t include gearing choices and upgrade options.

That is, including virtues as spells/abilities, up to 75 Guardian spells/abilities and various Major Traits to help complement your build for each situation. Now is it just me, or does this seem a very bloated and complicated mess of abilities and spells to manage?

Just you. Also if this is too much for you to handle… don’t ever play a game like wow where you have 3 bars of 10 for skills and that’s not even enough… so players would use mods to get them to all display on the screen.

i had a friend who came from WoW and complaiend about gw2 not having enough skills. i think it’s healthy amount. obviously, you’re not going to be using all at once at any given time. you would switch around depending on your playstyle and situation.

for e.g. i rarely touch meditations. and so now, i’m working on a build that focuses on meditations and it’s looking to be a lot of fun. it does take time to get used to a new build again, and skills, but it’s all part of the fun.

i’d say choose a few weapons and skills and a steup that you like and spend some time with it. get used to them and what they do. then when you want to try new things out, you can do that and i don’t think you’ll easily forget how to play your previus builds.
