Hey Guardians,

I come here with a question. In the Mesmer forums I was claiming that Guardian have little issues dealing with Lich Form. However that was only my personal imrpession after playing Necro and being defeated by Guardians (mostly meditation build) while in Lich Form in PvP.

So from the view point of Guardians: Is it true that you can easily deal with Lich Form? Or do you have trouble? Is it more of a 50/50 thing? Or does Lich form usually destroy you?

When someone pop lich form just run behind a wall and wait until it drops off = win. No class can 1v1 necro (skilled) with lich form in direct combat.

You can beat it if he’s unskilled…dodge blocks blinds.

It’s more of a 50/50 matchup.
What’s funny (or sad) is that there’s not many Necros to duel. I usually only face them in structured pvp.

Power Necros
Don’t usually have issues. When they try bursting, they get blocked and blinded hard.
In the heat of battle however, they usually get off that 7k Lich damage before I realize “oh kitten it’s a Lich”. If my utilities are exhausted during this encounter then i’m pretty much dead.

I call it a 50/50 matchup because i’ve fought some really good Necros where it took a couple of rez’s to beat him. But eventually I did. There’s obviously more bad players than good so you’re going to get a lot of different views.

It all depends on the fight in regards to lich, if its a team fight, its a bit harder, if its 1v1, generally the guard should come out on top. Most Necros will simply just spam 1 while in lich, so as long as you have your blinds/blocks up you should be fine, and most wont drop form, making it easier to kill as well since they wont go DS or have heal/utilities.

If you have sword/focus, you can literally run around with 1hp vs a lich and beat him (assuming no condi). If you don’t have sword, it’ll be a bit harder, but like death shroud, lich is verrrrrry easy to counter as guard.

Depends on the build the guardian is running, imo.
S/F – GS mediguard is an easy win. Just learn to time your blinds, blocks, and invulns (make sure to use your virtues as well).
Any other weapon combination may be a little tricky. Shield isn’t that viable in pvp, WoR takes up a much needed utility slot, but most often you can use the environment to LoS the lich.

Thief with sword pistol can.

Between teleporting everywhere, blinds & stuns (lich only has 1 stability stack) they counter necros hard.

As for guardian it depends on the spec.

main hand sword helps a bit because of projectile destruction & blind but the main thing that helps is shelter.
Even then it’s only temporary, your best bet is to line of sight unless you have a teammate with lots of cc handy so you can stunlock em.

LMAO, got anymore good strategy?

I honestly don’t think I have ever lost to a Necro 1v1 with my Guardian or at least it’s happened so rarely that I can’t remember the last time.

Conditions don’t bother me because I can remove them and out heal them quite easily and when it comes to raw damage I just dodge, blind and block most of it and even if I do take a few hits the damage I deal back makes up for it.

Whenever I see a Necro by themself I just see a free kill. In a group fight however they can be lethal if left alone which is why I focus them down first before going for anyone else.
