Opinions wanted. What do you think with a guardian and Twilight? Guardian animations are blue and Twilight is red and black, to my knowledge Twilight doesn’t change their effects.

Afaik, some effects like WW are changed. Don’t think that you can make so much wrong with the weapon, since greatsword on guardian is quite good. In contrast to all those mesmers I see with legendary GS …

Its great if you are a huge norn, with all that particle effects from the weapon and that blue glows from guardian’s skills it will be almost impossible for your group to see anything if you are doing dungeons.

Twilight changes GS 2 and 5. It changes the light blue whirl attacks to rectangular shards that look just like Twilight. Eternity changes it back to normal

It really depends on your prefence. I’m one of those who only takes skins which fit perfectly on the class. Twilight drops out here.

For me, Twilight just doesn’t fit in any way to the Guardian, it looks way too malign and evil. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is a spectacular greatsword, but it is something for a demon lord or so, which uses that blade of darkness to absorb life force. Nothing for a Guardian!

Again, it depends on preferences. There are people who just like the skins the way they are and don’t care if they fit on the class or not, they even might be convinced that it fits perfectly on their class. If you are one of those, go for it.

And then there is the type who just wants to look evil. In our guild I’m like the only Guardian with a bright colored armour and bright skins like Sunrise and Genesis, they call me “white kitty”. The majority has black colored spiky armors, most of them with Twilight and stuff, to look as malign as possible. If you are one of those too, go for it ^^ I’m already used to be the white kitty

Personally I’ve always like the “knight in white shiny armor” archetype, in fact my guardian has celestial dye with Sunrise/Genesis, radiant shoulder/bracelet and white air zephirite helmet, rest is something in between Inquest and TA set. I understand some people like the “evil” archetype with spikes and dull black tones but thats not my style, in fact, one of the main reasons I picked guardians was because I was conviced I would be able to get this look and playstyle with them.

I have also seen plenty of “dark” guardians and I dont condemn people’s choice, but I believe playing a guardian and going “dark” style is a true waste, might as well go warrior or necro if you wanted that. But then again, the class mechanics matter in people’s playstyle so…..

If you like Twlight better, then go for it, but let me tell you something: Twilight only has 2 colors, black and red, and thats about it, very little options of colors for matching armors and you will get very bored of it quickly. The autoattack seems like the markings you leave when you erase something badly, like oil, nothing else to it. Whereas Sunrise has all colors, and you can get certain colors you want by moving the camera angle. Each movement has a different color, the theme is warm, calid, cozy, nice to look at, relaxing, but at the same time pressing if you look from above. I might be biased since I have a Sunrise, but this is the same line of thought I had before I had the sword.

its really up to you, but I do want to warn you though, all my guild mesmers that have gotten a wlight have gotten very bored of it, and are starting to hate it in some cases. Mostof them quickly upgrade it to Eternity or stay with Sunrise after they get it.

Hmm so some say it works others say it doesn’t. My Guardian is spiky but a dark blue and gold color. I am not sure if Twilight will look fine @Carlos. Also in terms of skill 2 and 5 what changes about it? are the blades still blue when they shoot out?

I agree with Carlos for the most part. To me, the karma and Arah armor that a lot of people are running around with just look silly. That said, if I had a rarer skin like The Crossing or the ghastly grinning shield I’d probably follow up on that look. Back to great swords, the Corrupted Avenger, the Arah great sword, and the Crystal Guardian are close to the color of the normal guardian projectiles and can fit a spiky theme.

So I decided to go with the Flameseeker Prophecies. It fits the colors of my guardian and I use Mace Shield. Below is my character.
