Q:
Guardian and hammer need some love
Heh, if they added health gain to hammer swings, then they’d definitely need to increase the heal amount. =p
But yeah, the guardian needs to get its weapon boosts concentrated a bit more, if for nothing else but to toss in a few new traits. Honestly, I’d like it more if they’d just take all weapon traits and make them universal traits that can be slotted into any line; it’d clear up some of the clutter and let them focus on more unique traits.

I agree

How exactly does it need love?
And does a weapon really need traits associated with it when it’s already good? I tend to dislike weapon specific traits, since I’m not using them half of the time (give or take).
And why did you use the question format?
U wot m8? Hammers benefit from 20% off cooldowns. And it’s enough. LOL @ Zealous Blade for Hammers, the heal is pathetic even for a fast attacking weapon.
Also, would you really invest a trait point into 5% extra damage on one weapon? Really? Imo ArenaNet should implement an urgent safety net for faulty logic by deleting those traits. You get people investing into 5% extra damage on weapon and then whine about the game being too hard.
Also, threads like this. Hammer guardians don’t need “love”. Hammer guardians are fine. Don’t speak for the whole class, you’re just a minority that keeps crying about a very strong weapon for some reason.
The only reason hammers need love is because Banish has too long of a recharge. Can’t run around knocking enemies everywhere because you’ve got to wait, you usually only fire off one in a fight. And that won’t happen, because balance > fun. Other than that, hammers are fine.
If you’re looking to support your Hammer with traits, I recommend taking a look at any Traits that improve symbols. Making Symbol of Protection as powerful as possible is pretty fun.
My only issue with Hammers is that 90% of the time, you only use skill 1 and 2. The other skills are actually quite good, but only in very specific situations where you need to control specific mobs, or you’re running away. Even the Staff gets more regular skill rotation, with only Wall of Warding being held back for specific situations.
If I recall, the traits the help hammers a lot (symbols and the cooldown reduction) are actually in the Healing line, so I would look there instead of Zeal.
I LOVE the hammer with the guardian
but seeing those two traits work with hammers would be even more awesome
Zeal does have minor traits for symbols though, so Zeal/Honor might be what you should aim for. Zeal gives you extra damage and vulnerability, Honor gives larger symbols, longer lasting symbols, or healing symbols, in addition to the afformentioned recharge reduction.
