Guardian great solo profession
I think it is great. For solo PvE I can’t say there is a class I like more.

Agreed.
I totally agree. I had a lvl 80 Hunter which is fun too because you sort of have a companion, but other players hate your guts. Tried a Warrior but got bored with him (press 1,2,3 repeat), tried an Elementalist but could not remember the bazillion combos and always got killed. So I rolled a Guardian… wow… easily tank mobs 2 or 3 levels higher and 2 or 3 at a time, much better chances in boss fights, great healing abilities, good support for allies, so yeah definately a keeper. :-)
Indeed, very few classes can solo so well. Only a minion master Necro comes to mind as to what might be better and that takes some patience to use.
recently got guardian to 80, I find myself switching weapons more often, rolling more, removing conditions, etc. I like the simpleness of the warrior, but felt that I “play” the game more with the guardian.

I did the exact same thing.I leveled a warrior to 80 and got bored with him.Tried to level an elementalist and kept getting killed trying to solo which brought me to the guardian.Haven’t looked back since.

Don’t get me wrong, elementalist and warrior are good professions but in my opinion, guardian shines above both.
yup I feel the same way, in fact I levelled 2 toons one asura and one human, both guards
I have a lvl 80 warrior, as well. I just don’t understand how being a heavy armor class, the warrior can’t stay alive as well as a guardian…..I remember always dying when I get too many add-on mobs. As a guardian I think I may have even unlocked an achievement of never dying past 500k exp. I’m sure that is not the highest tier though…as I wasn’t even aware such an achievement exists.
Here is my take though why a lvl 80 guard feels so right. Our main enemies at lvl 80 in PvE at least are very much reliant on inflicting conditions with low/moderate atk power(the risen). So since I have PoV trait as a guardian, it was the perfect counter to these kinds of enemies. It would be interesting as they introduce more game content to see if this is gonna feel the same to guardians if the enemy type were not condition reliant. I know karkas are an example of where I would not be as comfortable.
“up to 80”? umm I guess… have 5 80’s at this point and no plans to delete lol
But up to 80? no offense intended… but who cares? Most are easy enough to lvl up… well apart from engi with a cooking career lol and all still remain fun to level up. But eventually leveling up will just be an old faded memory, like high school.
Wake up and smell the skunk in the neighbors yard, the grass is less green where you pee… er or whatever. But there is life beyond 80, and… what… is… “max character out”?? You probably don’t even have all the right crafting professions on one char to make the legendaries you need, which add nothing but a pretty skin. My characters can have one set of ascended, or many sets of exotics and swap out as needed. Yet all will eventually have ascendeds, I’m not off to college tomorrow
But hey, play the game your way, more power to you
+1 if you deleted a ranger
But to add, I can’t play with just one character. But being a solo player you probably won’t miss the rest of the game that requires more? I dig that I can solo vets, champs and the boss with my guard, but then I didn’t make a guard to solo and hardly do. Then the only class build that I can do everything with is my d/d stealth thief, but then that too would become boring in time if not picking up my other specialized characters. I guess it’s all just a different point of view. Lukz

Guardian is great. Warrior feels like just run up to an enemy and stand there hacking away as fast as you can, and run away screaming, pew-pewing with rifle if the heat gets too hot. With guardian I actually bounce around quite a bit with judge’s intervention, GS #3, Sword #2. I also get to bounce around enemies a lot with stuff like GS #5 or Hammer #4.
It’s more work, but I feel like a heavy armor version of a thief or an ele, both of which bounce around amongst enemies and feel like ninjas. In that sense, as a guardian I’m a ninja that wears plate armor. It’s the closest you can get to the fluid, dynamic, cannonballing through the air and into enemies sort of combat that you have with thieves and eles but still have the heavy armor and healing abilities to take the damage.
Like Asumita said, I too have a Warrior and a Guardian at 80, my Warrior has way less survivability though he does hit harder, but I feel I get far more from my guardian. Maybe its because you have less fear form wading into a crowd of mobs as you’ll likely be the only one standing at the end.
Guardian is my main with Thief and Mesmer as alts. I love the thief but he is sidelined with recent changes. Mesmer is fun, such a different class and mechanic than anything I’ve played before. Solo wise Guardian is great, it’s quite fun to just run up to something and ‘face tank’ it all day long, even with full zerker and 13k hps. Guard’s damage is actually quite good too with the right gear and traits. I’ll go against my fear of flames and say that I can almost match my Thief’s sustained damage with my Guardian. I’ve done my trials and studies and I’m comfortable saying that.
Guardian is so great in Dungeons, if you like soloing open world PvE I would guess that dungeons would be even more fun. Even if your group isn’t competent you could flex your Guardian and pull them through…
Mesmer can solo a lot by keeping the clones n i’s on the board too. I favor Guard but Mesmer is just interesting and fun.
