Guild Wars 2

Played a guardian as my main mostly focuses on WvW. Burned out on the game and took a 2 year break. When I came back.. guardian just didn’t seem the same and I didn’t want to level up DH so I used the level up for a Scrapper for PvPing for the last few months.

But after this last patch, I am playing a vanilla guardian in pvp (sword/scepter/shield) exclusively and am really enjoying it. Decent damage, decent survivability, buffing and rezzing teamates during the chaos of battle, and the heavy armor looks kick kitten … this type of play is why I chose Guardian in the first place; Thanks for the changes Anet and I hope you other guardians are happy with the changes also!

(BTW: I am not saying I am a great PvPer on this character or any character…)

How do you fare against an engi/mesmer/ele or thief?

I always found these classes difficult to fight, and ran from them in WvW, but these days I often can’t even run away anymore.

People say go focus vs shield but I dont know, without valor doesnt seem all that worth it vs the dps the shield ability from focus gets.

I enjoy bother the shield 4 and 5 abilities and the traited 250 toughness plus 61 armor of the shield are nice imo.

There are a few very skilled players you encounter in pvp where it really doesn’t matter what class they are on… you are going to die miserably. Excluding those, warriors and a pairs of necros are what I struggle with. DH guardians defending objective points can be tough too. My scrapper struggled against elementalists but I’m doing fine against them with the guardian (though I believe they were nerfed)

They are fun again indeed. I no longer have the need to stay at 1200 range pew pewing with the bow. Permanent symbol uptime + healing & might from them enabled me to fight engies again (and the sword 4 year bug fix).

Guards can pretty much stay on melee 1v1 indefinitely now. The problem with necros is if they manage to get 10 of three damaging condis on you and you’re out of condi cleanses.
I personally prefer shield over focus. Focus skills have a really long cooldown and the attack dynamics are slow, though superior in terms of viability. I’d rather use torch but without radiance and a slight rework to the weapon it won’t happen (symbol + torch would make a really interesting aoe fire damage if you’re willing to never use F1)

Would love to see spirit weapons and signets reworks. The build diversity would go from 1 viable build to maybe 2 or 3!!!!!. One can only hope

How far did you get when you ran? Not like we are the fastest class in the stable. I’d wager most of those you ran from could catch us with one leg…
