I’m writing this because lately I have to watch desperately how my aegis bugs out more and more. A long time ago it didn’t concern me that much but nowadays it makes me see red.
What I mean is that my aegis blocks attacks which never really hit me!
For example lupi’s aoe, whenever he does it the first thing that happens is that I lose my aegis though he didn’t even began to pop red circles nor did one of them hit me! Or in stage 2 where lupi shoots projectiles at you I lose my aegis instantly without him hitting me.
Another example is the molten endboss Firestorm. I’m unable to sustain my aegis cause somehow I lose my aegis every second constantly. A good method to check what I mean is when you use Shelter during the fight you see you block something every ~1 second though there is nothing that could have hit you at all!
In both examples I don’t get hit or lose any damage after my aegis is gone. The game attacks me whenever I have an aegis but if it’s gone I don’t get hit anymore. Just wtf!?
I’m sure I don’t have to explain what this means, but I will do it nonetheless.
First it means that I can’t have an aegis that is constantly up to block attacks when I really need to.
That’s maybe not the biggest problem since it only applies on the one block from my virtue that I constantly have but it’s one block less that I have for no reason.
Second it means that if I time my blocks bad, for example the Firestorm in the molten Fractal attacks me and I pop aegis but too early it gets taken away from me and the actual attack hits me without me having a block ready.
Third and I really wanna emphasise this case! There is a trait called “Unscathed Contender” which gives me 20% more damage while I have an aegis up! With these problems it means that I lose 20% (!!), let me repeat 20 percentage (!!) of my damage for no reason. Whenever I play guardian I try to keep my aegis as long as possible just because of this trait.
So pls Arenanet fix this bugs or make it so that you are actualy hit when you lose your aegis!
What this would mean is that the molten Firestorm constantly hits the grp with an invisible attack that you can track in the combat log and make it so that lupi instantly hits everyone whenever he does his aoe attack in stage 2 (lol).
This way there would actually be a real reason for the aegis to block something.
What I would do instead is that aegis blocks only attacks that are visible in combat log. This way you fix aegis and you don’t have to fix multiple bosses and mobs in the game.
No matter what you do though please do something about this!
