Guardian weapons make me sad :<
That’s just everything being overtunned as hell.
Look at Engineer Hammer vs Rifle.
Why in gods name would you ever use Rifle for burst dmg anymore when the leap/shotgun attacks are like 1/3 of every single hammer skill lol.
To be fair, Jump shot still do more “burst damage” on point-blank range and the best launch in this game is still nice, plus it’s actually a RANGE weapon.
However, PVP-wise, Hammer just bring much more. Good aoe, cc, projectile reflect, and the only block in this game that does crap load of damage.
But still, Rifle will be picked if someone focus more on being range dps.

Nearly all Guardian weapons are sub par. They’re either too slow, clunky, useless skills attached or not enough “oomph” for their obviousness. A big one being Scepter’s Auto still having terrible tracking for 3 years. How is this still a thing?

I wouldn’t say GS clunky at all. It’s very smooth, hit hard, and does its job well.
Staff is also a good weapon choice too despite it’s lower dps (But it’s not as low as some people try to make it be)
Torch is a strong weapon in condition build after several buffs in traits and buff in burning.
Hammer is slow, but still has the group protection and short cd blast finisher feature.
To me, Guardian has more viable weapon choices than some classes already lmo.
Focus is still a very nice off-hand choice thanks to instant cast block that does not cancel attacks.
GS is absolutely terrible. The symbol is completely useless unless it’s against Downed-bodies. There goes one of your skills. Binding blade is incredibly clunky and too easy to see. Whirling Wrath is a joke since to achieve its full damage requires you to be INSIDE your target for the full duration.

Torch sucks since 1 of its skills is completely underwhelming(cleansing flame). Hell, even Zealot’s Fire can be strafed at ranged without needing to dodge.

This “sucky gs” still do more damage than the LB
2 works better than Warrior’s 100b (lower dps yeah, but still higher than most guardian’s skills).
3rd skill is Guardian’s one the few movement skills, which is invaluable to a slower class like Guardian.
4th skill is a dps boost, both from the direct damage and traits. (1/4 cast time is always a dps boost when cast)
5th skill is an invaluable aoe pull, though becoming less important thanks to DH’s insanely good F1 pull. Used to be very important though.
To me I prefer GS over sword unless I’m doing PVP, which blind and teleport actually matters.
Oh, and torch becomes viable condition weapon thanks to trait revamp granting you access to using 4th skill twice in a role. 5th multiple hits feature also triggers f1 passive burn quite nicely. It’s a PVP weapon I should say.

You can cancel the aftercast of the symbol by stowing your weapon. :<
Also while your points are valid this post was kinda about PvE. Although Longbow outclassing other weapons by far is even more true for PvP I guess. Currently the only reason to swap to your other set is for defense or to avoid projectile defenses.

People just look at total damage numbers and assume it’s lower. What they don’t take into account is that WW does it’s damage over just under 1 second while 100 Blades does its damage over 3.5 seconds.

@Tenrai Senshi.2017, that sounded like WW will dish its full damag at the first second wich is not true, i can just get hitted by the first hit and then evedade or block 6 other hits meawhile.
Each WW hit goes arround 2k-3k same happens with 100B.
Or im interpreting ur writing wrong?
@Aomine.5012 well about GS clunky… i would like symbols were better :P, they are kinda clunky, like symbols bein traited by default, and make a new trait to cover that loss with somethign that guardian/DH needs to.

at the actual state guardian’s weapons feel like they give you nothing more than few damage and low (or not well written) utility.
Talking about greatsword (which is the weapon I like the most) it feels like I have just “damage” when using it in pve… Nothing else. AA is low considering the damage output, WW fails to hit unless in certain situations, #3 is just on a so long cd for a leap which inflicts blindness (even more useless of a condition with the new defiance system), symbol is a low to none dps increase and binding blade fails a lot as pull…
If I could change them I would at least:
AA: chain 1 and 2 give you 1 might, 3rd 1 might per enemy.
#2: 3/4 reduction on projectile damage and bring that damage into the whirl itself, you shot only 3 projectiles which apply few sec of cripple
#3: reduced cd by 2s increased range to 800 and add few sec of weackness on top of it
#4: increased damage (20-30% more)
#5: binded targets gets 1 burning stack (1s) per second while binded
I think Guardian GS is the best melee weapon in the game overall, and LB is the truth.

I don’t know why you people keep bringing the symbol up. Granted it’s awful in PvP but in PvE it’s a huge DPS gain, even if you don’t cancel the aftercast (which really isnt that hard).
Also the auto is pretty strong. In optimized parties I’m used to seing 10k,10k,15k hits on it. Even more on Vale Guardian. Not sure why you would say the damage output would be low.
