Guardians and Retaliation
Many times I nearly died to this. Retaliation can hurt you so much if you just then decide to unleash a rapid hitting attack.
I ussualy cancel out of the animation by dodging as soon as I notice I’m getting large amount of retaliation damage.
I like retaliation, it’s a nice mechanic to allow defensive builds to deal damage by playing it smart.
My most painful experience with retaliation was with my Thief in the labyrinth during Halloween. Tons of skeletons with retaliation in one part… auto-attacking with shortbow meant a fast and cruel death; and detonating a cluster bomb would pretty much equal a onehit-down. Even auto-attacking a single skeleton with a dagger would hurt. Good thing that players don’t have access to such strong retaliation, and also that you don’t see long-lasting retaliation in zergs very often.
Has anybody casted a symbol and used whirling blades, too late in realizing that they just ate 15 ticks of retaliation on themselves and that is the reason they died a horrible death?

Try it with ranger LB 5 on a group of 5 people who all have retal. 12 hits per person… 60 hits of retal, for a few nade tosses with an engi. Or grab an icebow. The pain!
