Guardians in PvP
IMO, I think they can kill incredibly fast in WvW, but are a little bit harder to get burst on in sPVP mainly due to the gear restrictions.
I know your question was in regard to burst damage specifically, but one of the additional nice things about Guardians IMO is if they miss their burst skills, the cooldowns are fairly quick and a Guardian’s consistent DPS is one of the highest in the game. Meaning they can provide constant pressure until their burst is back up. As oppose to a Thief or Warrior that will need to act defensively until they have the cooldowns to burst again.
for a very generalized answer, our sustain is one of the best in pvp. we can keep pressure up for a very long time while waiting for the right moment to ‘burst.’ and by that, our ability to burst isn’t as great as say a thief or warrior, but it’s still respectable and sometimes unexpected from your opponent’s point of view since if you’re running pt guard and stalling at caps just doing sustained auto-attacks, when you decide to ‘burst,’ it will be to your advantage.
in wvw, it’s less about bursting unless you’re roaming, which is essentially pvp without gear/utility restrictions. but in zvz, especially if you’re judge bombing, you can do incredible burst damage and escape with relative ease if you’re traited correctly and picked the correct utilities
I would also agree with them. I can walk into a zerg and drop a few ppl run out and heal uo and charge back in. I run high crit rate and crit damage and high toughness and ppl don’t expect the burst damage cause I’m a guard.
