Healer advice - Cleric's vs. Magi's
I would say to stick with clerics. Personally, toughness takes a higher priority than vitality in that damage reduction will always be there where as the 3-4k health you added goes away in 1-2 hits. I don’t use any vitality at all (only trait 30 into Honor) and I can last for an extremely long time. The thing you need to keep in mind with toughness is that you don’t want to go over 3k armor because you start to hit a diminishing return in damage reduction. For boon duration I only increase it through runes and the 10 I put into virtues to gain vengeful.

hmm just some thoughts. i’ve recently been trying to build a healing based Guardian, with at least 1k healing power and some crit rating. by mixing cleric’s and magi’s and other stats like soldiers or berserkers, i’m able to hit crit chance of 30%, which i feel is in a good place.
for a healing guard, i feel toughness >> vitality to a certain extent. i almost want to say you don’t want that much vitality because that means the more you need to top up when you lose it. as with a relatively low health pool, you’re able to always top it up with constant small streams of healing from your regen, high healing, etc.
if you went full magi’s as well, you will literally have no power. and thus the crit chance you’ve gained won’t do a lot either.
if you’re going 30 into virtues, then i personally would capitalize on boon duration. however, i’ve been thinking of mercy runes for a bit. though in a sense, you’re sort of counting on people to be down around you a lot. so if you’re donig ZvZ’s a lot, then it could be useful. or sepecially if you have other Guards running Mercy runes, you could “spike” res easily. and in that sense, you get some toughness as well, though i would still recommend at most mixing magi’s with cleric’s if you’re sticking with healing and want a bit of crit.
though to a certain extent, with a healing Guard, you’ll be wanting the high crit chance more for procs, instead of doing massive damage. that’s my take at least.

+1 Cleric
I always used full cleric and the healing power works better with a great defence than vitality.
My traits are 0/0/20/30/20 and i have 50% buff duration using 2 Monk, Dwayna and Water runes.
I should know this but what are “procs”?
Magi’s is better for support but you’ll do slightly worse damage. This is for PvE, where you can regularly hit mobs and proc EM and Vigor. Toughness is highly overrated…look at how many ppl run berserkers in PvE successfully.

It’s when you gain an effect from an action, like getting might from a crit.
Fear The Magi!!!!!!! Thats what I’m using right now after finally grinding the dang thing to 80. I’ll switch the crests out for 4 runes of fire/2 runes of strength once I can afford it lol. I like magi for the precision and vitality, 2600 armor is plenty for being in a fight, as long as you know where/when to dodge. Seeing as how gaurdians have the lowest health pool and heavy armor, I think it’s much more important to get you health pool up, specifically in WvW. There’s always going to be the moments where your going to get focused and having an extra 300 armor instead of the extra 3-4k health isn’t going to be ideal. If you look at necros for example, they can run almost no toughness and still be some of the tankiest players in the game, so I would say once you get to around 2600 armor just get yourself some vitality. The constant stream of protection and regeneration are going to make up for the lack of toughness as well imo.
