The basics of this build:

With a 2h Weapon:
2977 Armor
16640 HP
49% Crit chance (with consumables)
92% Crit damage (with consumables)
500 Healing Power.
2848 Attack

With 1h weapon and shield:
3128 Armor
16640 HP
50% crit chance
93% crit damage
500 Healing power
2692 Attack

Ok After tinkering around with several meditation builds, bunker builds, and AH builds, I finally came to this as the best placement of stats for me. . As you can see with the stat layout there isn’t anything too wild or crazy, but as always its the choosing of your gear that will make or break this. I will list specific gear and take constructive criticism as it comes. I still need to get a better back piece so show mercy on that for now.

Weapons:
Any weapon of your choosing can be used with this build. Its all up to your personal flavor to decide the pace/playstyle of this build. My personal choices depending on what I’m doing is Staff/Greatsword, Staff/hammer, or Scepter/Greatsword for PvE (fractals). For WvW staff never comes off, but other weapons are usually Hammer, Greatsword, or Sword/shield depending on what I’m wanting to do. All weapons should be berserker weapons. If you follow this guide and switch to honorable shield when you are using 1h/shield in the build, you can get away with knights to have kind of a ‘tank mode’ with extra toughness but less crit.

Sigils:
Oh boy where do we start here. Depending on what kind of consumable you choose can really change which food. I usually carry 3 different foods with me, Omnomberry Compote for large zerg battles where I’m tagging everything with staff, Omnomberry Pies for buffed claimers and for some PvE content where i need more passive heals, and Curry butternut squash soup for most normal situations where i find I’m not lacking in life intake and want the extra crit dmg.

For sigils i mainly run either Superior sigil of restoration (WvW on staff!!) or Superior sigil of Leeching. What can i say I like heals without having to heal. Other options of course are fire sigil, stacking sigils, or Energy or Endurance on kill Sigils. Just depends on your pace with the build and where you feel lacking at. Obviously for fractals the superior sigil of Restoration isn’t going to be as effective as in WvW, but you can also put in Sigil of rage for quick bursts of quickness (again, WvW on staff!!).

Armor/runes:
I used to run Knight’s armor with soldier’s runes for a LONG time on a 0/0/30/20/20 build focused on retaliation and AH. I switched to this build because it would allow me to get rid of the soldiers runes altogether, while keeping a good dose of retaliation, and put out significantly more damage. This build runs Knight’s armor with Superior runes of divinity. Ruby orbs could be subbed out, but as you will see with trinkets, this build focuses on more stat distribution and not all in 3 stats.

Accessories:
Back: Boyer’s Delight
Earring 1: Ruby Orichalcum earring of the berserker
Earring 2: Ruby Orichalcum earring of the berserker
Amulet: The Eyes of Abaddon
Ring 1: Solaria, Circle of the Sun
Ring 2: Lunaria, Circle of the Moon

(note: when I get the laurels the earrings will be switched to the 2 all stat earings, Celestial Sigil, and Ancient Mursaat Token. Back piece will be switched out to one with either Cavalier, berserker, or Knights stats. I’ll update all the stats once I have a chance to test it out)
As you can see i have a thing for the all stat trinkets. I know I know, i could get higher damage or Higher defense with more specific stat allocations. But I want High Offense and Defense. This of course will either require you to do fractals or a LOT of daily quests.

Traits:
Retributive Armor: No explanation needed Here. More Armor= more precision.

Purity: removes 1 condition every 10 seconds. If you run a 1h Weapon for the most part, switch out for Honorable shield if you are using shield with it. Conditions shouldn’t be too big of a problem if you are paying attention. Don’t need to instantly burn off every condition that hits you. Some are manageable until Signet of Resolve ticks it off.

Altruistic Healing: Not really our main source of heals here but a good supplement to keep you alive.

Vigorous precision: See selfless Daring

Superior Aria: Obviously to keep your buffs/condition removal on lower cd.

Selfless Daring: With vigorous precision, helps to keep you dodge rolling. If you arent fighting a boss or other enemy where you have to time a dodge specifically, feel free to use this to dodge roll to your allies. If at a gate in WvW and need to help with heals on the ram, besides your staff #4, dodge roll at the gate and throw a few heals out there.

2h Mastery: 20% Cd on 2h skills. Feel free to switch this out for Empowering Might. Situational. I switch out constantly.

Elusive power: If you are keeping up on your dodge roll heals you are rewarded with more damage! You’re welcome.

Pure Of Voice: We can have the debate that its glitchy, or doesn’t convert the right conditions to the right boons with certain shouts. The fact of the matter is it is still at its worst group condition removal that can replace Rune of the Soldier. Keep in mind of course that you could always run Rune of the Soldier and have an insane amount of condition removal. Not for this build though. Just learn which conditions you can live with, cleanse some, and keep in mind you have a signet ticking. 2 active condition removals and 1 passive. That should be plenty.

Inspired virtues: I wouldn’t go so far as to say you are stupid if you don’t run this, but… If you are using AH and renewed focus… This just works way too well to not be used.

Vengeful: 25% retaliation uptime. If running in fractals and need Shield of avenger or WoR or both, switch out for master of consecration or improved spirit weapon duration. Really depends on what you switch out for Utilities for different content. Which brings us to:

Utilities:
The build is an altruistic healing variant of course, and keeping with the build synergy, will be keeping shouts on hand for condition removal. The default utilities of this build is Signet of Resolve, Signet of Judgement, Stand your ground, Save yourself, and Renewed Focus. Feel free during fractals to switch out for Wall of Reflection, shield of the avenger, and Hold the line, depending on the content and the group’s ability to utilize their own survival ability. A lot of people depend on guardian utilities for group survival. I’m not a big fan of having to depend on other classes to make your own build work, but it is what it is, and we rolled guardian. You will have to switch sometimes. The good news is you don’t really lose much, but you won’t have the 3 retaliation skills. This of course is not as needed during dungeon bosses as much as it is useful in WvW.
Renewed focus is pretty straightforward, just make sure u pop off all of your virtues before using it.

As far as how to play the build, you will just have to figure out for yourself how to utilize the stats. There are plenty of weapon combinations available, and thats the beauty to this build and guardian in general. Find the weapon combination and playstyle you like, heck even change out the utilities if you want. Don’t like retaliation? change your first trait in virtues to consecrations and switch out something!

Played with this a bit more in wvw. If running against heavy condition damage def have soldier runes handy if your group doesn’t run enough condition removal. Your crit will drop to about 45 or so which is still enough for ah crit
