Help me shake up my WvW build!
Hey all,
I’ve been running the Healway build for a while now, but I’m starting to question its effectiveness in Tier 7 combat and zerg fights (ie, I realize I tend to stay alive, but I don’t know if I’m making much of an impact in the ZvZ fights that seem to be crucial in this Tier)
I’ve also noticed the majority of the Guardians I play with running PVT/AH based setups. Before I spend more of my laurels on more ascended Cleric’s gear, I want to know:
What build alternatives should I consider for Tier 7 WvW?Link to my current setup: http://tinyurl.com/c7qrqol
Cheers!
I’ve been swapping between two builds, trying to decide which I prefer.

AH with certain skills (Shouts, Staff’s Empower) provides enough healing so you can focus your gear on something else than survivability, or for some insane survivability if you gear for it.
I’d say Cleric’s don’t impact much if you’re not simply working as a healbot of some sort.
This means having Battle Presence and/or Writ of the Merciful, always using a Staff and Empower every time you can, Absolute Resolution if possible, Orb of Light, dodging always in the middle of your team for more heals, etc
If you’re using Cleric’s and trying to melee others, well, you’re not going to make much impact at all with below average damage.
There’s two builds that I find really useful in Zerg fights which are:
30/0/10/30 – Everything for Greatsword, Purity, Writ of the Merciful and Writ of Exaltation for great AoE damage. Spirit Weapon Mastery and Eternal Spirit for Shield of the Avenger and Bow of Truth. (And Wall of Reflection always as the 3rd)
The Greatsword provides the AoE damage to deal with the melee rush or when I’m rushing, and Staff for support when I’m falling back. (I pick a Shout or Meditation in place of Bow when I’m attacking for Stun Breaker)
0/30/10/30/0 – Sword & Shield + Scepter & Focus/Torch, it has great single/few targets damage with the Sword’s pumped up damage, the Scepter’s great for Sieges (it’s our only long ranged weapon afterall) and it’s immobilize works great if you learn when to use it (always aim for a kill when you use it, don’t use it without thinking).
I use Shouts and Purity with Signet, this allows me some decent tanking as well as Empowering Might & Battle Presence support.
Both works differently in both damage and support roles, I like the Radiance one for skirmishes and actually getting kills against annoying professions (elementalists and thieves), but I find the Zeal one infinitely superior for Zerg battles.
Once you go AH you won’t go back.
Thanks for the ideas thus far!
I’ll look more deeply into these builds later on and get back to you all.
