Help me understand? (Guard Vs Rgr Stats)
Ya, that’s normal. There’s 3 tiers of hit points for the 8 classes:
Lowest HP (about 10k)= Ele, Thief, Guardian
Medium HP (about 15k) = Engi, Ranger, Mes
High HP (about 18k) = Necro, Warrior

Do you know why they have different HP?
It’s part of the overall balance of the classes. Been that way since release.
All of our methods for regaining health, heavy armor, and our group support is the good for the bad of being on the lowest hp tier.

Thank you for the information!

This is completely arbitrary and nonsensical.
This fact completes my Daily Disappointment Achievement. Every day.

It actually makes a bit of sense when you think about it:
Ele, Thief, and Guardian all have a lot of inherent survival abilities: Thief has stealth and tons of evades while Guardian and Ele have tons of boons and heals.
I mean, Guardians and Eles have historically been the most popular bunkers in PvP because of their skills/talents (even if this has changed a bit in the current meta).
On the opposite spectrum of this, Necros have very few evades to avoid taking damage and the large health pool synergizes with their life siphoning abilities. Also, Warriors, despite having heavy armor, are very offensively focused in their talents and abilities which leaves them to rely on their healthpool to stay alive.
Welcome to the hybrid tax….health pools are always skewed for classes that can play both offensive and defense.

Simply put anet screwed the pooch again, meaning sadly it is how they wanted it.
Now we all know that when anet touches something thery really anet it up. Heavy armor doesn’t matter, 3.5k armor still getting hit for 7k. Our regen is less than a rangers or a warriors or you get the idea. And our group support is sub par, warriors give as good of if not better group support. Rangers can give decent group support about what we can.
So yea just one more thing that has been aneted up.
What good is 3.5k armor when you have 25 stacks of vulnerability on you?
With the new condition meta, a Ranger’s health would make a lot more sense. ATM its bunker build or go home.
Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)
If I had 3-5k extra base health, I’d be unstoppable.
If I had 3-5k extra base health, I’d be unstoppable.
Then the people you are playing against are not very good.
This is not a dis of your ability which looks very good in the videos, but of some of the noobs you cut down too easily.
If I had more health, I could spec for more hybrid roles which I would enjoy playing a lot more than Commando or Buffbot. I suppose if I went full bunker I would be pretty hard to kill, but not really if people focus on stripping off your buffs.

Added FAQ Q39
If I had 3-5K more base health I’d have 3-5K more base health. It’ll be a good thing sure but I’m not overly bothered about our Hp pools it’s just one of those things you have to take in your stride and accept as something that’ll probably never change.
“Jim’ll Fix It and if he doesn’t it’s not broken”
If I had 3-5k extra base health, I’d be unstoppable.
Given the bloodlust buffs and the applied fortitude gained from having maxxed out Defense Against Guards, you should be “unstoppable” now.
So I have these 2 level 80 character, both charr. I’ve removed everything they have and reset all their trait to zero and here what I get for the guardian vs. the ranger.
As you can see both of them have all the same stats except one:
Ranger has approx. 5k more HP than the Guardian?
Is this normal?
Thank you if you can help!

If you see warriors stats, skills base damage and insane op broken regeneration you will cry a lot.
You have to understand the process here that went on in Beta. Initially, Guardian had higher health AND an Aegis that protected you from 1 out of 5 attacks. They were virtually unkillable. So the Dev’s nerfed health to balance out the Aegis. Which made things better.
Then nerfed Aegis but never looked at health again.
Sadly, a lot of these nerfs and buffs are for SPVP. Which creates incredible inbalance in other places.

When we are traited for high dps however, the only advantage we have is our aegis. Which isn’t something we are able to spam. Guardians should be in the medium HP pool IMO. That spike damage can be brutal in a stack if something goes wrong. Under 12k hp isn’t anything to take lightly. That can get squishy.
