Hi, fellow guardians! Just unlocked Longbow and am really enjoying the new change of pace.

I’m planning on building this character for fun solo/duo map completion of the new zones, and I noticed that the mobs are considerably nastier than in the original maps. I was thinking it might be wise to have a backup for my Longbow be Mace+Shield, but I haven’t really built this character for tankiness before.

Anyone of you vets have any advice for making a good PvE solo/duo gearset/build that would let me still do reasonably strong LB damage, but is tough to kill if I swap to mace+shield?

I would mix zerker and solider gear if I were you

You could try something like this. You’ve got Power and some defense, and when you swap to Mace you can build up Healing Power. Standing is Symbol of Faith should heal you about 500hps. You’ve got pretty frequent Aegis access, which will block, deal around 1.5k damage, and heal about 900. I made sure everything I chose could be attained cheaply because open world pve usually isn’t something to spend a lot on.

Anyway, it’s a starting point.

If you have it already a mix of celestial & zerker is great.

If not a mix of valk & either zerk or assassin works wonders as well.

Toughness I wouldn’t suggest (outside of celestial) because it makes you an aggro magnet.
