For those that didn’t see it, looks like Ranger Longbow is getting some projectile speed love to assist with hitting moving targets:

Scepter 1 suffers from this same problem to a much greater degree because the projectiles are that much slower. If all classes are supposed to have viable options at range, then our scepter needs the same kind of buff. They already did this with Staff Orb of Light, so it really only makes sense to continue the trend.

Any chance this will happen ANet?

Those flying orbs are ridiculously slow.

When was this? If you mean Orb of Light, that’s the trident #2 ability they buffed a while back.

Would like it if it fired at the same rate of fire as the shortbow in all honesty, obviously they would need to re-balance damage and what not but I’d leave that too some one that is good at math!

In all honesty I’d love too see staff range increased too 900 from 600 on its auto attack. It still has a max limit of targets it can hit, so it should not be such an issue.

@Aleaf, i dont remember exactly, but Scepter’s projectile speed but NOT cast speed was increased to help it hit things, Ever since it’s been fine imo.

Scepter is not fine, in fact it’s one of the most infuriating weapons to use in WvW. The #1 and #2 skills need some work, because right now it’s our only true ranged weapon and it’s mediocre. I was having a debate with another person in the forums about weapons you’d like to see added.

They buffed the Staff’s #2 “Orb of Light” projectile speed, which makes it decent now,but it still has problems.

Our scepter’s projectile speed is so slow that to be effective you need to be around 300range max. It really needs a 33-50% speed increase to be effective and add some flavor to it, such as a combo finisher.

Our scepter’s projectile speed is so slow that to be effective you need to be around 300range max. It really needs a 33-50% speed increase to be effective and add some flavor to it, such as a combo finisher.

^. I’d to either see the speed of the projectiles increased with an added ability (like get a boon every X number of hits, or a condition on them) or make it instant but have a 3-chain combo with an added effect.
Also the smite ability does damage divided by the number of players (WvW since that’s where it has the most issues.) Personally I’d like this to be changed into a symbol that puts conditions on enemies who step in it (not sure which) so that it can benefit from our symbol enhancing traits.
The #3 skill is okay but usually you use it when the enemy is getting to close to you rather than keeping them running from you, but I’m okay with that.

This is it exactly. Else the target can and will move out of range before the orb gets to it. And let’s be honest, even at the current speed, the damage isn’t all that great.

I’d like to see a speed increase even if it meant nerfing the damage a little. At least we’d still be getting procs from sigils and abilities that way, and we wouldn’t have to deal with the knowledge that our attacks were doing absolutely nothing.

Since i mostly use the scepter in more of a melee range i dont have to deal with the slow speed too much, but it does suck when people move out of about 600 range, also i would love for smite to act like the symbol it should be. Give it vigor buff and make it work like a normal targeted aoe instead of doing worse damage on groups.

For the LOVE OF GOD, I walk FASTER then my orb with speed buff. I use scepter MELEE NOW.

I’m sure something is in the works to give us what we need. I honestly find it a little infuriating that someone can just strafe left or right to avoid the orbs.
