to preface this is what i use in dungeons, I’ve no experience in anything other than story mode dungeons, and of that I have not done sorrows embrace or crucible of eternity. but the build does seem to work, at least in my opinion.

Gear

full cleric with sapphires in everything(its nice to be an armorsmith/jeweler)
http://www.gw2db.com/items/67579-box-of-clerics-draconic-armor#related:contains
http://www.gw2db.com/search?search=sapphire+orichalcum

weapons
*staff sigil of water
*1h mace/shield sigil of water mace/sapphire in shield

Traits

Breakdown

10 radiance

*VI blind exposure throwaway points in my opinion, i like having the blind, put them where you like

30 Valor

*I Meditation Mastery I can see maybe using IV for toughness but doesn’t seem to make a difference. V is possible maybe on a per fight basis?
*VIII Defender’s Shield IX seems like a good option because of the shield bust supposedly healing but it hasn’t felt good for me when i use the ability, maybe I’m just not noticing the heal
*XI Altruistic Healing since I use 2 shouts this works nice

30 Honor

*III Writ of Exaltation I’m using 2 shouts so why not II? I just don’t think its better than any of these 3 personally.
*X Writ of Merciful Makes the symbol you lay down from staff quite nice.
*XII Battle Presence The one struggle I have is not using IX(20% less cd on 2h) because it is very good with staff. With this build you have essentially 2 heal spells and can almost rotate them. The math on empower(if someone ever does it) may even make this better than battle presence in terms of raw healing, but it’s how I roll for now

Slot Skills

*Healing breeze just stand still arrrrrrrgh
*Retreat but don’t actually go anywhere, just have an aegis
*Hold the Line! 35 second CD, nice
*Merciful Intervention why did it hit the NPC WTF ANSIODNOIAWNE
*Tome of Courage RECEIVE THIS LIGHT-RECEIVE THIS LI-RECIEVE THI….

How I think it should be played
#mash hold the line on cd, I don’t care if everyone is full health, that’s a good thing
#mash empower 4 on staff its really good
#don’t stop attacking, you have to do damage sigil of water is gewd
#the wall exists, 5 on staff, it can be useful(?)
#roll everywhere because you drop flowers wherever you land, and you do more damage when low endurance omfg synergy
#rotate both of your symbols, shield and staff don’t get pissy about people not standing in them either you have to move to avoid damage in this game, just pop them out there
#after you heal people for the first part of the fight everything will really hate you, stay alive
#DON’T blow virtue of resolve
#DO blow virtue of justice, on cooldown, yeah
#SOMETIMES blow virtue of courage, you don’t reallllly want to, but you can

yay for textile not working?

feel free to rip this up or ask a question that someone might be able to answer.
If you have experience with later dungeon modes I haven’t done yet let me know if this build will fall flat on its face; or if you use something like it let me know whats up.

Similar to what I run though I focus on meditations instead of shouts and use the signet heal (and signet cooldown from radiance). Cleric gear with deep honor/valor and mace/shield is pretty tough, very tanky.

signet heal does seem preferable to what i’ve been reading with merciful intervention and the cd reduction being bugged

I will say I adapted to a shout build for WvW though, as I wanted to be more mobile (and also used staff primarily instead of mace/shield).

I think that this is a very good build. You should have enough going on to not only take hits but also keep the low HP that Guards have up to max.
