Like the title says, how much health and armor should a guardian have for HIGH level PvE (i.e. high level fractals, Arah, etc.)

Is this just a L2 kitten ue? That is, if I know the content I should just go full Beserker’s. Or is there an amount that you should have no matter how good you know the instances?

When it comes to health, you’ll generally want Between 15-17K health. I try to have 16K so I can survive condition damage, which is the main thing that messes up Guardians. If you have 15K, it’s not bad either. As for armor, I honestly don’t know. TBH, I’ve never paid much attention to how much is really “needed” since we have the dodge ability.

There are basically three perspectives here.

Personally i think i guardian should be:
1. Closest to the target
2. Most armor in the group
3. Lowest health pool
4. And do nice dps, this one is subjective but 2k power, 45% crit and 90% crit damage and at least +10% from radiant power. That is nice to me.

The reason for this is that you will become the aggro magnet in the team and that is imo the best support you can give in a number of encounters, not all though.

The second perspective says 100% berserkers but invest in health in your traits, basically so you avoid aggro and share it with the team.

The third are healers and they max out heal power and boon duration. Health or toughness isnt the key selling points here. Its boons and dodge roll heals.

The first ones work in high level pve content but they do different jobs, the third one might work for the individual but the damage contribution to the team is just mediocre.

Play it as you want is my advice.

Also, one more perspective there Brut:

4. Those that like to max heal and toughness with a moderately heavy vitality. The bunkers. The dps won’t be as great though.

Just as a tidbit, I think the general idea is that anything more than 3k armor isn’t effective.

Sorry for being unclear, i included both magi and cleric in the third category.

that depends on build, defensive needs 3k+ armor 17k+ health and 1k+ healing. Offensive 2h builds are another matter completely and can get away with far less.

It’s impossible to tank in high level fractals. If you pull heavy aggro, you’ll just die, no matter how defensively specced you are. So it’s really just a matter of getting just enough defense to survive when targeted, and no more. If you overload on defense, you’re actually making it harder on both yourself and the party, because things will go down more slowly due to the loss of DPS and have more opportunities to kill you.

In other words, play smart and go with the bare minimum in defense, and no more. If you’re good, you don’t need any. If you’re not quite there yet, try to find the fine line and err on the side of offense, if necessary.

So what would you say is the “bare minimum in defense?”

Bare minimum is wearing an armour.
