Sorry if there’s already been a thread about this. Search wasn’t much help.

I’m asking because I had a poor experience with it post patch, and I’d like to know if Spirit Weapons are skill viable in any shape or form.

Yesterday, I went into CoF with my Sword Spirit for the first time since the patch.
It got melted almost instantly by AoE and one Godforged attacking it.
Further uses didn’t prove to be much good either, so I’ve switched to Consecrations…

I love Spirit weapons, so it’d be great to know there’s still a way to make them work.

Spirit shield is still really great if you’re fighting mobs or bosses that are primarily ranged; dies quick otherwise. I still shut down Tom’s poison bolt attack for a good 30 seconds in the uncategorized fractal.

As far as I have seen so far ( which isn’t much because I only used to use them underwater ) , there is something off with their scaling. So they’re actually really powerful while you are levelling and practically useless at endgame.

Some are better than others.

I’d rate them as

Shield is #1 best happy fun time.
Hammer has it’s uses.
Bow.
Sword of KILL ME SO FAST THAT I SUCK A BILLION TIMES OVER!

That’s my biased opinion anyway =p

They do not last long enough to be useful any more.

We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional

Shield was a staple in high level fractals, then those 2 kittenheads responsible for balancing went all smiter’s boon on all of them. They are in line with ranger’s spirits now.

I liked using Spirit Weapons too and am finding them to be less than stellar after the patch. We really need a trait that gives them natural regeneration or something.

We have a trait that gives them regen: Battle Presence.

In my experience up through at least level 43, sword is a beast. Its taking aggro off me and holding stuff until that stuff is dead. Its taken aggro and held 1 vet + 1 normal long enough that if I get downed, I’m able to fully heal myself and get back in the fight before it’s dead. It takes aggro so well I have to wonder if it’s got some sort of threat bonus.

Even at level 80, I’ find the sword very effective against massive swarm fights in most of the regularly farmed Cursed Shore events.

My experience is so completely different from what other people are reporting I’m trying to figure out if the spirit weapons inherit stats from the owner in some way.

I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Now that Spirit Weapons take damage I’m also seeing them hold aggro for me which is nice, but they also die fast. I see what you mean about Battle Presence, but honestly the passive from virtue of resolve is not that strong. I was thinking of the need for a trait something like the Ranger trait natural healing which in many situations makes a pet a lot more survivable.
