In the recent reddit poll, seemed like Guardian was 2nd most popular class for it. From what i know you need two things:
1) mobility (swiftness, evade, maybe a blink or port)
2) good ranged damage in phase 2
Guardians do have lots of ways of getting swiftness, both shouts and staff, but their trait only gives vigor on crit, so they don’t have the most dodges (compared to say a thief.) They aren’t a high damage ranged class either. What technique are guardians using to face her?

Scepter I believe is the highest ranged DPS in the entire game.

Remember that even a crit for 0 damage counts as a crit, so keep hitting Liadri with your scepter even when she’s invulnerable to maintain vigor.

As Colesy said, scepter actually does decent damage, and once Liardri is vulnerable, just circle around the room and auto-attack. Use Scepter #2 to get rid of those pesky orbs that pull you.

edit: “invulnerable” here refers to when Liadri reduces all damage to 0, not when a mob has the Determined buff – you can’t crit against the latter.

Always question your assumptions.

I did not know that bit about critting for 0 still triggering vigor, theguildless. I also didn’t know about the damage from scepter being comparable. I guess it’s from the combination of 3 &2, holding her in one spot and the pounding after?

So staff phase 1 and S/F phase 2 would be a good bet maybe? Anyone got a link to a build? (I’ve seen links to videos but not one that describes the build.) Also would I need to buy a full new set of gear? I have soldiers exotic armor with ruby orbs.

Hi Havana,

There’s another topic specifically addressing Guardian tactics for beating Liadri (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Any-guardian-who-actually-killed-Liadri). Some of the comments there might help you.

This fight seriously frustrated me, and it took me maybe around 50 tries to finally do it myself. The first 30 or so were attempted with various builds, but after that, I went with a random spread of traits (something like 15/20/5/25/5), aiming for traits that worked for my tactics (i only used scepter/focus)…symbols, immobilize/vuln, blind, vigor, etc. Based on the various responses on the main Guardian/Liadri thread, you can probably beat her using almost any layout, but you just want to be smart about your traits, based on how you plan to attack.

Skills: I used shelter, retreat, hold the line, and save yourselves.

Armor/runes, weapons/sigils: I used my stock knight’s armor with soldier runes, and my trinkets were all zerk. My scepter and focus were zerk…bloodlust on my scepter, accuracy on the focus.

Consumables: I used endurance regen food along with superior sharpening stone.

Specific tactics that could help:

1. Bloodlust sigil: Yes, this takes extra time, especially if you’re attempting to beat Liadri over and over, but you can find a zerg and get bloodlust up to 25 stacks, which will help with overall dps.
2. Get the extra buffs from one of the representatives in the center of the pavilion. Every little bit helps.
3. If you’re going to use skills in the 1st stage, use them earlier, so that by the time the 2nd stage starts, they’re ready to use again.
4. Definitely stay around halfway between the center and the edge of the circle, so the AOE can be avoided more easily.

With scepter/focus, I just made sure to strafe sideways, to keep up speed and continue the auto-attack. When scepter #3 is ready, make sure #2 (smite) is ready at the same time to increase dmg. Even with all of this, I still got lucky during my successful run…didn’t see one of the orbs, and I got pulled, but it wasn’t into an AOE. Also, I ended up going down right at the end, and I defeated her while sitting on my kitten , with the clones all closing in on me. It seriously felt like an accomplishment when I beat her.

Good luck!!!
