How do you survive in WvW?
you join a guild/group with teamspeak or vent
Blocks, Blinds, Vigor, Dodging, Invuln…
And for those videos people normally put their best stuff and edit out the bad stuff. Not saying those players are bad at guardian, it just doesn’t capture the whole picture.

13k-14k hps = I solo roam just for video’s or have a full team for support.

What about, WvW zerging is boring. So I solo roam for fun when I don’t feel like doing real PvP?

That’s basically right. Toughness/more HP can only keep you last a little bit longer but won’t save you. It’s the skills like Blocks, Blinds, Vigor, Dodging, Invuln etc. (especially mobility) which make you get out of combat saving your kitten .
However, you still need a little bit toughness+HP to buy some reaction time. For me, I found no difference in WvW survival by having 2600 armor+15k HP vs 3400 armor and 20k HP. I am running full zerk gears in most of time and some time even when I was commanding, I can still be the last one standing on the ground but I can deal much more damage than wearing PVT+H gears.
It’s about right-timing your skills and know where/when to go.

My problem being that I fight outnumbered all the time, getting a 1v1 is like getting a Xmas present in May. So even with all the blinds, Dodges (I use double sigil of energy) I have to avoid twice as many attacks and it feel like I run out of tools to survive before I can make some serious impact.
Key is not being focused. Any class being focused by 3+ ppl will die fast (for certain OP class maybe 5, that’s the limit), even a PU mesmer or a perma stealth thief don’t want to fight 5+ ppl alone. If you fight outnumbered a lot, you need to equip weapon like sword or GS and utility like JI, once you found yourself being focused you need to get out combat ASAP, learn to hit and run then come back(most likely a troll style). Those meat-shield style guardian can only last a bit longer but won’t change the result of being killed at last especially when outnumbered.

I wouldn’t suggest zerging with 14k xp, but you should be fine roaming with it.
Most people have anywhere from 2 to 5 gear sets to swap in based on what they are doing.

I keep seeing people linking builds with 13-14k HP for WvW and I keep asking myself, how do these people live for more than 3 seconds against any of the burst fotm classes?
Am I missing something?
Yeah, a few things really but it depends on the server you play on. For me, it is rather simple.
1. I swap out my heavy armor boots for a pair of Addidas running shoes.
2. I remove one set of weapons and stuff my back pack with extra water and food. Rather than engaging I will turn the game into hide and seek. The extra food and water helps.
3. Radio with extra batteries. Why you may ask but it is simple. Radio comm to the B-1 pilot to air drop in a couple of low yield nukes. I’ve yet to find a better way to clear out the zerg of lemmings.
On a more serious note, it depends on your play style. Solo or duo it is more of a tactical fight rather than a bum rush zerg vs. zerg. Camps and yak killing first, ruin control second, and quick take of towers last. I do play hide and seek honestly in this format of play because it is a numbers game. 5 or more, we hide. 5 or less, we fight. If we can’t avoid them, then we’ll lead them somewhere to our advantage and whatever may come, comes.
Outside of that it doesn’t matter if you run with the bait balls.

I’m trying to make a guardian build that works somehow while running solo or with small groups (get supplycamps, kill sentries, not get 1shot but enemy roamers) and at the same time be at least little beneficial in zerg vs zerg. 0/5/30/30/5 AH build seems good for me traitwise but I’m wondering how much healing power effects the heal ratio per boon? Is it worth raising healing power to something between 500-700 to get little more heals with AH or just increase damage/defence overall?
And if there is some other build which would work better for my intent, please tell me! I’ve played warrior mostly byfar so guardian is still a new experiment for me!
AH has terrible scaling with Healing power 1% to be precise. Furthermore AH shines if you’re running with a full group, anything less than that and it’s a No-No, at least from my experience with the trait.
Ok well maybe I forget the healing power and stick with damage/defence. Another possibility could be that I play the 0/5/30/30/5 build with AH related traits when in group and change traits to meditations while I know I’m going for solo, while keeping gear the same. Would that work, does meditations require something exact to be effective?

That’s what I do.
However I do have a full cleric gear as backup in case I need to heal my group with regens and dodge rolls.
