Been away for a while, after the patch has it become any more viable in WvW?.

Its definitely been changed for the better, and is more usable in situations. But depending on whether your zerging or roaming its survivability is questionable. For zerging its good for aoe heals/stun but as far as roaming goes, meditation builds are still the meta and are mostly used.

In my opinion, until anet makes spirit weapons like a necros minions, it wont be viable.

As an example an elementalist AOE/ground skill skill 1hit ko the spirit weapon.
