How to 1v1 DH as a reaper from no lifeforce?
I would say use staff and LoS as best as you can. With unblockable marks you build up some lifeforce and you can do a bit of damage. When you have your lifeforce you can go into offensive. Do you have a well? With a well you could force him off his traps. If no well then use spectral armor, go into reaper shroud, start stability and charge towards him. When you reach him you can proc the fear and the reaper-shroud 5.
On the other hand if you play your nekro mostly close range, have 0 lf and face a 1on1 you will lose… don’t engage ^^ +1 another point or wait for help.
I personally played with d/wh + staff marauder well-nekro and I did okey against the DH I faced.

Yes, you need to use staff, spam marks and lose all lifeforce you get instantly you get shot from longbow… You can always go Yolo plague for opener so traps will burn only 50% of your hp, you can try charging at him but you will get knocked from 1st spell he uses in melee then trapped then pulled again and finnished off.
But dont worry “DH is anti melee” i bet there are ALOT of classes that win vs him range vs range like mesmer that gets killed from 1 Trueshot or Ranger that f3 can negate for quite long time.
I’ve actually found that as a DH, reapers, revs and scrappers give me trouble. A combo reapers often use to ruin my trap is death’s charge +infusing terror.
And i bet Kuya they do all that with 0 lifeforce.
Seems legit.
Only given you tips, tiger. Can’t win your duels for you. I just hope you’re not doing duels in conquest.
Go hit some boxes and get LF… going against anyone without LF is pretty much a guaranteed loss against anyone of equal skill.

Try Summon Bone minions. They’re good little mine field detectors while the DH concentrates on you.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Take the well that corrupt boon place on the trap that DH hides in it, spam the marks, use shout heal so you get LF, when you have enough LF, pop RS, pop stability, kitten DH.
Why do other classes keep coming in here asking how to defeat us? why not ask that in your own forum? and why do you guys keep giving them advice on how to defeat you? honestly it makes no sense….

Because if we don’t they won’t discover it themselves, keep flaming and DH will get nerfed because of the 10 threads that pop up every day stating the same stuff “they place 4 or 5 traps instantly and when I run in I instantly 100→0, pls nerf”

Do you enjoy beating people who does not know your profession mechanics.
Isn’t it more challenging fight more fun? Do you only prefer to faceroll the keyboard and win?

If you want, I could go to the pvp forums and complain about you guys are uncounterable, so your choice, you could moan and complain about being helpful or you could help someone learn the game. Ya’ll are the ones saying that DH can be countered, so back up that claim and explain. Honestly, some people…
Btw, thanks for the people who helped out.
And a side note, this was a guild tournament in death-match where builds were locked when we entered and a rule was that necros had to start without life-force. So I built off-tank with a crit-vuln build, and I thought I could fight the DH like I do in solo-que (Yolo it), but he, knowing that I didn’t have life force took advantage of that and forced los or death. I was running shout-sigil skills btw. But yeah, thinking about just creating a dragon hunter now, seems like the easiest class to win with :p

In what carebear universe is that a meaningful threat?
Despite the gross self-importance of most posters here, they don’t balance based on the NOISE blaring in the forums. They have this nifty little tool called ‘database queries’ which paint (literally) a million times broader picture than the caterwauling and kitten that roars though here.
Dragonhunters ARE strong. No argument. They’ll almost certainly see another shave before Thanksgiving. That said people are also learning to fight them and I see you’re genuinely trying so I have no doubt your W/L will improve. But keep in mind the PvP modes they DO balance around aren’t duels. So it’s unreasonable to think they’re specifically interested in the problem you’re presenting. Building some lifeforce before you try and YOLO any opponent that’s putting up a good fight is just common necro-sense.

Biggest weakness right now? They’re all TOO enamored with the long bow. When you start meeting DHs who put it down and melee-trapset, THEN things are gonna get real.
So counter the bow. Half their weapons loadout is tied up in a weapon that’s terrible in close. I’m still of a mind to lead with the Bone Minions to set off the minefield, and then hug them ‘til their dead because just like the parent profession they have zero disengage. But for Grenth’s sake don’t chase them, fight ‘em from 300-600 where they get the lowest damage bonus but you’re not bulling right in the china shop of their mid-fight trap setting. If they run, circle them. Because 9 times out of 10 they’re baiting the trap with their own shiny butt.

I play core Necro too. Personally I run well-mancer with earth runes because in a team furball 16 second of AoE protection is game, set and match most days. But it’s not a duelist build, so all I can do is wish you luck finding your perfect balance. And say ‘use the Bone Minions, really’ .

It’s actually rather easy:
Dodge the True Shot
Use Staff > Marks on the Dragonhunter repeatedly
Rinse and repeat
Reaper handles Dragonhunter very easily, actually.

Because sportsmanship?
Because fun?
Because it’s a freakin’ game?

In what sport do you go up to the person you are fighting and ask them,
“Hey, how do i defeat you and your team?” none
i am finding druids, engis and mesmers hard to fight but i am not going to their forums and asking them how do i fight and kill them, no i keep playing pvp so i can learn it for myself. Because it is more fun that way.
Even after DH release, I still feel that Guards have the most basic pvp mechanic compared to other classes not to mention with one of the lowest Vit. I agree that DH is strong if you just don’t dodge anything which is to say for every other classes. But our visual ques are so simple and kiting is like one of the best ways to kill guards, just keep moving.. Heck I still have trouble killing some engi’s just cause how much they can kite and popping blocks and elixirs than coming back at ya.
I know the OP is asking how to beat guards without any life force, but with the crazy chills these days, my question is how do you deal with a nekro with mid-full life force that are above average skill level. Do we just avoid them like D/D Cele Pre expansion? Cause even now, when I fight eles it’s just an ongoing battle, same thing with engis and it’s whoever goes mentally fatigue and messes up their rotations loses.

Bro, are you telling me you can reliably tear up a Scrapper on a node?
I need to reevaluate my life. That is the 1 class when an experienced person plays that I lose to more than win. Or at least have to disengage which is a loss.

It really depends how they play, especially if they’re using the terrain to recover and avoid attacks (the little gaps in foefire or the minecarts for example and pillars in forest). Same thing goes for any classes using those to advantage, I use it too. Those fights just last too long but overall they’re the class I tend the avoid especially in kyhlo where there’s nothing to hide behind.

None of us (presumedly) are being payed, so yeah, its ok to be nice to each other (again, presumedly).
I think I should post it here. When you guys fight melee classes in 1v1’s what do they do if they win? I tried fighting a DH and it seemed like I would never have enough life force, and the DH would stay in his trap and bow me to death, I couldn’t pull or fear because of stability, and I could only los for so long. So how do I fight you guys?
I had a fierce encounter with a condition reaper on wvw, he was pretty good and smart enough to keep distance and not fall on traps, and kept pressure by aplying conditions all the time, I had two condition cleanse skills and was not enough, he beated me 3 times, and now I know my build is not good against full condition builds.
I agree that in sPvP it is pretty hard to keep the distance when you need to cap for points, and this makes DH pretty powerfull for this kind of play, but in WvW when you have alot of space DH is not that hard.
