Guild Wars 2

Thinking about rolling a guard as a main and just wanted to know how versatile the guardian is in terms of changes to gameplay. Can I, on a whim, drastically change how I play my guardian (akin to that of an ele or an engineer), or is the guardian one of the least versatile classes. Thanks for the input guys.

A versatile classe? what you want to do with guardian that needs to be versatile?

Guardians are pretty versatile, but I think elementalists, warriors, engineers have guardians beat in versatility. However, like Aeolus said, it depends on what you want to do.

Depends on what you mean? Guardians can play tanki/heal, support/heal, DPS, evasion (blind/block), spirit weapons, symbols. They have swiftness/teleports, plenty of CC. Our ranged option ‘feels’ weak but has great DPS.

Guardians are based around doing strong damage through auto attacks (compared to other professions), so you will find a lot of utility just by switching weapons. There are also a few gameplay defining traits as well (monk’s line, spirit weapon line, symbol line) that will drastically change how you play.

Jack of all Trades, Master of None … that’s the Guardian So yes it’s versatile :p
