I like the dragonhunter but I believe a few changes are required.

Change1:

Longbow #2 useable while moving.

Change2:

Longbow #5 should have a faster casttime or proc faster.
Its to easy to avoid in its current state and it also roots you at the spot for a long casttime. That is a bit to much.
You could reduce the barrier duration if you make it faster to proc the barrier, to balance it out.

Change3:

A 25% run speed on the dragonhunter.

How do you other DHs feel about this?

I agree with changes 2 and 3, but disagree that Longbow 2 needs to be castable while moving. This always seems like a lazy suggestion when there are ways to improve the skill further to makes its root more justified.

While many find the stationary aspect of the Longbow annoying (and believe me, I get it), that seems to be the intended point of differentiation for the Dragonhunter versus say, a Longbow Ranger, which is just a question of design intent and not really something that seems worth debating; it’s good that it’s different, even if not everyone is in love with how they’re doing that.

The issue is that Longbow 2, even with its damage buffs, still isn’t quite there yet. I’ll quote what I already wrote in another thread:

While the low CD is a crucial part of this skill, the reality is that because of the root and how movement heavy the game is, you’re not going to be getting this used on CD a lot of the time (even in PvE) – and this is fine, but it does need to be considered when balancing.

I don’t think removing the root is the right idea. I’m not saying I wouldn’t mind it being castable while moving like many others want, but it would take away from the spec’s unique gameplay feel and there is something to be said for the root adding a bit of satisfaction to landing the hit.

I also don’t think adding more damage is the right answer. It hits pretty hard already, and I don’t think more burst is the solution here.

Instead, I’d like to see the skill apply two stacks of burning. This would greatly open up the Longbow to condition based builds (as 4 has a lengthy cooldown), while adding a bit more oomph to the ability’s DPS and helping provide better synergy with the Zeal line without relying on Supreme Justice and never ever using Virtue of Justice’s active ability.

I would be fine with the root on 2 if the 5 didn’t also root us for such a long cast. Combined also with the cast times on new Virtues.

1) It does significant damage at range, pierces natively, and has aa4 second recharge. The cast time isn’t all that long. I mean, the Longbow isn’t meant to be another melee weapon. Having that kind of a tradeoff isn’t a big deal.

2) Ring of Warding roots you during cast and is melee range. Hunter’s Ward is 1200 range, deals damage over multiple hits (VoJ synergy), cripples, and creates 1-5 rings of warding all for the cost of slightly longer cast time and 5s longer recharge. I’d say that’s fair.

3) we absolutely don’t need 25% movement speed. Certainly not with Dragonhunter. I think eventually we might get a trait, but this isn’t that time.

You are one of the most annoying trolls on this board. You always take the other side of whatever the op says. Long bow 2 is unacceptable for spvp. Thats fine if A-net doesn’t care about that but I and the vast majority of spvp Guardians will not ever use the elite in spvp. Time will prove I’m right i guarantee you this is one of the elites they will be tweaking long after the expansion goes live. I guess you would tell me DH is fine and there will be plenty of them in ranked pvp? Just tell me yes so I can ignore you forever.

skill #2 or #5 need to remove the root. its a tough weapon to use when 40% of the skills make u sit still and channel.

“hey i’m about to do something in a couple of secs, pls come cc me right now. don’t worry i will make it easy and stay still for u too”

edit: because starting a line w/ “#2” starts a bullet format

Troll? Please. If I have an opinion and an OP is the opposite of that, of course I’m going to oppose it. This isn’t rocket science. I had a giant post written up, but it’s seriously not with my time to rewrite.

Moral of the story: DH isn’t as kittenome people want you to believe. I don’t know who put a cactus in their cereal, but they seem unnaturally angry about it. People can dislike DH, that’s fine. But don’t go around parroting others’ opinions. If you don’t like DH, make sure it’s for your own reasons, and make sure those reasons are good. Don’t try to pass off opinions as facts.
