I play a hammer guardian. Due to my slow weapon swings, combined with various amounts of downtime rezzing or trying to avoid AOEs, I very rarely kept the Vigor boon up before when it was a 1-second duration.

Last night I did CoE Explorable and I have to say the new change is amazing for me. During boss fights I have 100% Vigor uptime. I was able to melee on Subject Alpha, which used to be a purely ranged battle for me since I would never have the stamina to dodge out of his AoEs.

I understand that its AH synergy took a hit, but it feels a lot more useful to me now, as a trait designed to help me dodge. Meleeing feels fun and reactive again, instead of slow and frustrating.

Thanks, ArenaNet.

I also enjoy the change. I don’t run AH, so I don’t have much to complain about. All that matters is that when I do crit (it’s a bit rare with my build), I’ll get more vigor. I’m getting an overall buff from this because 5 seconds of vigor for a single crit for someone with only 5% crit means a lot more than 1 second per crit…because it doesn’t exactly happen a lot.

I am glad that yours builds are not destroyed. Heavy crit builds are now useless. I play AH sword/GS with High crit rate and my setup is entirely destroyed. Thanks Arenanet for destroying builds based on crit. So now we can just use the same spec/builds/gear.

You have to be altruistic to get the healing. Mad?

Oh, and in case you didn’t notice, meditation-based healing is in the same trait line. Maybe getting back to viable won’t take as much change as you think it will.

ITs always funny that People come here to tell us that their playstile is not changed, and then we discover they dont use The nerfed trait\skill\weapon… (CPT Obvious the revenge)

How many funny guys there are around the world -.-

I use AH.

It’s still an amazing trait, and there are still dozens of things that can trigger it. Yep, it took a healing hit with the Vigor change. It certainly wasn’t crippled by the change.

I think its important for someone to speak up and say that the Vigor change was actually beneficial for what the trait was designed for – granting Vigor and helping grant additional dodges, which was previously a weak point of the hammer playstyle (and probably also mace play).

I don’t think its fair to call the change a straight nerf, because it did bring benefits to play styles that were previously not able to trigger the Vigor boon every 1 sec.

This is entirely not true. Sure, Altruistic Healing took a heavy thump from this change, but you can still run crit builds to great effect. I’m currently running one on my guardian based on Empowering Might (grants AoE might on crit) that easily keeps up 6-8 stacks of might on the entire group. I do quite a bit of damage on my own and make the real DPS focused builds do godlike damage.

The vigor change was a huge help for me as I now have nearly full up time on vigor, meaning less incoming damage for me and more group healing thanks to Selfless Daring (heal on dodge roll).

Just because one specific (and generally overused) build took a hit doesn’t mean crit guardians or guardians in general are dead. Be more flexible.

Good. Then they can finally pump up necro lifesteal without the result after sigils being overpowered.

They won’t bother AH anymore no reason to. Now in order for it to be the same as it was before the patch you have to be proactive. And I bet something else gets added to offset the class weakness in survival now. Meditation heals is ok but really not the only game play you should be stuffed into.

I will be happy with some hints.
But for now the class is far from What devs describe our class. And with this hit THe non honor (non hammer) AH builds are just trash.
Well at this point, i continue to play with new vegas, and lets see the next month what they create for us.

After my little rant on the forum I took some time to testing things I still love AH and I run with a group of friends in wvw and pve so it helps with the healing even after the nerf I found the using a symbol to heal plus AH and dodges I can get some healing out of it to keep me up a bit even running solo and with the spread of boons to allies im still great. Just wish they actual test stuff before nerfing or at least have a test server so we can test it for them before putting the patch live. With that and maybe adding the addition of dev notes explaining things it will calm the community down for every class with the active communication and help make sure bugs and changes are fixed accordingly relating to skills and traits.

Just to provide balance:
I have a build based highly on critical hits (60-80% chance) and it is not destroyed at all.

My crit base is 51% percent and I’ve found my vigor’s is active far less. Still I can understand the change, as before I would sometimes get vigor stacks up to ~30 s, and I don’t think the developers intended that to happen.

Besides the fact we self-heal less, I can somewhat agree I like the new form of vigor regeneration. You can still reap the benefit of vigor without having to constantly swing away at something

LOL running a build around a broken mechanic then completely overreacting at the slightest nerf. I’m surprised AH itself hasn’t been nerfed yet.
