I’m no pro quite new to the game so please don’t write that i’m a noob the build kittening sucks etc…. i tried to make a build for my own needs i like to be supportive guardian with shouts and condictions removal from my party but i would like also kittenes roaming or world vs world so i would like to be useful in a lot of situation both for my team and for me.

I would like to know what do you think about this build , and a question the 6 runes of troops which gives shout condition removal actually works properly or not?

Also the build can be a bit modified like for example in dungeon putting 2 points on virtue …

Hi, i’ll try to help you.

Pve: if you want to be useful , you have to play a beserker build , it is the “best” way to help your group. You can remove conditions with your utilites. If you find it hard to survive try knight or cavalier armor. (weapons: greatsword/sword,focus)
Fractals: hammer build or gs if there is already a hammer guard in your grp.

WvW: the best way to help (in a zerg) is a shout build and trooper runes, soldier or cleric armor (staff/hammer or staff/great sword). I prefer using a zerker armor with trooper runes for extra damage.

Ps:

-Having over 3300 armor is usless, max. (stack other sigils)
-Trooper runes do work well.
-Honor XIII force of will, is a selfish trait. (the other 2 are a better choice in wvw grp)
-Choose the right food depending on the situation.

Trooper runes aren’t bad, but they’re an odd tradeoff. You have to expend shouts for nothing but condition removal to get that benefit, which means you can’t save them for their main purpose. A wasted Stand your ground could lead to later not having stability and a group that’s getting knocked in it’s butt and dying.

I’m just over 100 days playing, so I was new not long ago. And I was using builds similar to what you show here back then. But then I learned how awesome Concecrations were. Wall of Reflection is a must have in many situations. Hallowed grounds in a situation where you’re in one place and need stability… beautiful skill. Purging flames for condition removal is also pretty great. Don’t overlook these tools, they are great and often fit the situation much better than shouts.

With that though you’re going to want at least 2 points in Virtues tree for Master of Consecrations for longer duration and faster reuse.

With that I’d also look into taking virtues a little further and getting Absolute resolution. Between that and purging flames there’s very little need for the Trooper runes as condition removal will be covered. And you can also swap out that trait for Indomitable courage when you need more stability. Virtues is a very nice line… also giving boon duration and faster virtue reuse. If you ahven’t looked into it and tried playing around with it, I highly suggest doing so.

Lots of truth in this. While it’s good to play however you want, it’s a game for fun and all, no reason to do something if you don’t enjoy it. The Meta builds are there because they are the well thought out min/max builds for different situations. Doesn’t mean you can’t use them as a template and make adjustments to fit your playstyle though.

I’m very much like you, in fact a couple months ago I was saying the same thing. Then as time went on and I worked on my own build, it suddenly was the same build as one of the meta builds. Realize there are thousands of guardians out there, all working on builds to maximize things. No matter what you do, it’s been done before and people have analysed the positives and negatives and tweaked it. What has washed out and remained good solid builds are the ones listed as the Meta builds.

In the end though, take your time, have fun, work with whatever you want. There’s no need to skip directly to what are the best builds. Taking it slow will let you try some things to know the positives and negatives for yourself. It’ll only make you a better player as you’ll know when you might want to swap in a different trait or weapon for any given situation. You’ll know when you want Absolute resolution, Indomitable Courage, or Unscathed Contender. You’ll know when Master of consecrations is required. You’ll know when certain traits shine, and when they’re going unused.

But, again, meta builds are meta builds because they are the builds that let you kill things the fastest while still having enough defense to survive.
