I think there is some opportunity here: the single trait Fiery Wrath does not make this a burning build and the great traits you get in Radiance (since you’re taking it for DPS anyways) result in people using VoJ actively, hence the GM in DH traitline.
You can’t avoid burning your opponents on a Guardian; VoJ does not shut off. It would be weird to not pick up the extra damage you get from these two traits, especially considering the other two trait choices there are crap.
If I was going to throw a burning build at you, it would look like this:
Not sure exactly what you are looking for if you aren’t going to use all your tools for max damage. Do you want to completely AVOID anything burning? I think you’re going to have to give it a go yourself and let us know what you come up with; very few people are going to ignore the synergy between burning and DPS to suggest a NON-burning build for you.

Well I didnt say avoid it completely, but most of those traits are burning, what is so bad about retalation? Its a more defensive build but it still has decent dps. We have other tools then just burning to me thats like saying an ele can only use fire since its higher dps then other elements, maybe im missing something here as you probably know im still new and learning the game and im not trying to sound rude or anything I do appreciate the build advice also I completely missed the fact that purging flames burns enemies.

The issue is you’re not being very clear in what you’re wanting, from the builds he’s offering you.
While burning is something that will happen, it’s in no way your primary damages. Burning (the small bit of it) is definitely something you’d want to have because it will give you damage modifiers.. that increases raw power dps.
So again, what is it about the build you don’t like and what is it you’re trying to achieve?

No the issue is your not understanding anything ive said, I essentially said anything but a pure burning build thats it, your making it way more complicated then it needs to be, I said thank you and stopped asking for advice so why continue this?

No one should consider the first build I posted as a proper burning build, even if there are elements in it that take advantage of burning because the main damage component is not a result of the burning condition or their is no efforts in that build to extend the burning condition or it’s damage. It simply recognizes that Guardians burn and their are great multipliers conditional on burning.
I recommend that if you desire even less ‘burning’ than the build I gave gives you, just drop Fiery Wrath and Radiance altogether, otherwise, your just wasting traits you won’t be using since you seem to want to minimize your burning elements of a DPS build.

Thank you for the advice, but it does make sense they work together so ill likely use the build you linked or something like it, again thank you I do appreciate it.
Alright so ppl are trying to say burn spec is bad now? Im confused, also dont I want some condition gear if im focusing on bunring?
as they have stated, they didn’t give you a burning build, hence you don’t need condi gear. you’ll want zerkers for raw dps with these, if you’re having problems keeping up, maybe some P/T/V rings/trinks…but practice with zerkers makes you a better player.

Im curious about burning builds again, retalation doesnt seem to do much.

I made a full vipers burn guard once, did a test run and found out a few things.
A: Burn does not last long enough, I had 100% up time on condi and could only get around 20-23 stacks of burning for 3 sec or so, then it falls fast and stick around 6-10. Why, due to our weapons having no condi on them, and VoJ how that works.
B: its better from what I played around with for a burn guard is to go half viper / half sinister, why? sinister gives that precision which gives that hybrid its true name, and since only one trait gives condi duration, mind you its only 1 sec (Vitrues line ; supreme justice ) and how burn condi works the up time sucks so it better to go half and half since it works best with how the Guardian plays. I would have to play with it more to find that sweet spot for condi duration but as I had it with half vipers, half sinisters it seems to work out better.
