I was playing PvP the other night with my bunker Engi and I ran into a Guardian that didn’t seem glassy whatsoever but was hitting me like a truck consistently despite my really high toughness and near constant protection. The spec I was using relies mostly on dodging and making opposition put all their damage dealing skills on C/D, but this spec just wouldn’t stop dishing out damage without taking a lot themselves. They seemed to be using a sword and scepter if it helps any.

Is there a meta-guardian build that falls under that description? I would be interested in trying it.

It’s probably the triple meditation build, using 10/30/30/0/0, very high burst damage, rely on block mostly for survability and also a lot of healing from all the meditation. The sword autoattack itself deal easily 1k+ and last hit sometime 3k, which put constant pressure on the opponent. Your best bet with this build is to keep distance.

He’s probably gonna blind you alot, and teleport to you with meditationand sword #2. And watch out for shield of wrath, try to break it if you see him using it rather than moving away, because he’ll end up teleporting to you at the last second. (4k+ damage)

Hey there Ameno, I play a Guardian named Brenn Ildereen. I had an encounter with a bunker engi last night on Legacy of the Foefire. It was just the two of us on the map, or there may have been one more person but they never joined the fight. It lasted a very decent amount of time, both of us going back and forth between having the upper hand before I finally was able to end it. It really was a great fight and I made mention of the fact that I wished someone had been recording it XD.

I am running 3x Meditation build, with a few modifications to the traits (not 10/30/30/0/0, I don’t even know what that meditation build would look like?). I typically run with a Soldier’s Ammy for the defense and Runes of the Pack to supplement my offense. GS – S/F are the weapon sets. Focus 4 has a beam of light that shoots out and could be mistaken for a scepter. Anyway If you are the Engi I fought, many props to you and I hope we indeed meet in the ring again. And if you’re not, then I just typed this out for nothing and am an idiot!

Hmm, I don’t recall anybody saying anything about recording a video, but you name does sound familiar. Also the Guardian I was talking about was usually with an Engineer friends most of the time and this went on for a few games. Was the engineer you were fighting an Asura using bombs primarily?

I do remember being grouped with some other Engi’s last night, however they weren’t specifically my friend. Yes the Engineer I fought against was using bombs and dodging everywhere leaving trails of mines(?) or something.

and in PvP one of the most typical DPS burst Guard builds would be 10/30/30/0/0 or 0/30/30/5/5 (even higher sustainability though damage takes a small dent). they have strong burst, but also high consistent damage. tanky through, like Trice said, blinds, blocks, well timed dodges, invuln through Elite, etc.

Yeah we likely fought each other then, I’m going to steal your build now.

The build I was using gave 100% vigor up-time, Sigil of Energy (50% endurance restored on weapon swap – which is probably only good on Engineers) and a utility skill that refills endurance 100%. So yeah, basically endless amount of evade. I wasn’t using any mines, but you might be thinking about the bombs that I was dropping everywhere. They heal me when they explode which is why I was spamming them everywhere.
