Interesting Combo
Yeah, it has some really nice locking. Its a good PVP setup. Immobilize however isn’t that great of a PVE skill. Immobilize is meant for the dangerous burst types like thieves since it doesn’t stop you from using skills. Scepter is not damaging weapon. Its really meant for catching and preventing kiting. You’re using immobilize to gain distance, which is counter intuitive for a weapon like the hammer.

agreed. i don’t use ’em in the exact same fashion as you do. but having two snares with one weapon switch, and one being an insta-snare is pretty darn awesome.
and true, i use the snares a lot less in PvE. i just sort of use it as an opener for my hammer since it’s the most ranged. sometimes it’s useful for certain bosses that move around a lot, although most of them are anti-CC half the time as well.
in WvW, it’s great for chasing down stragglers or fleers though.

For PvE, scepter is second most powerful weapon after GS, DPS-wise. If you’re for a pure DPS setup you should be using GS/scepter, no debate.
When I deal with veterans/champions, usually I run a GS/Mace+Shield Combo. I’d unload everything I’ve got with the GS then switch to the Mace+Shield Then when The cooldowns are almost ripe I switch back to the GS and repeat. If I’m lazy I sometimes just use a Hammer and be done with it with the protection buff but the extra effort is worth it.
Some cases where I have no choice but to kite because the champion places multiple stacks of bleed from one hit or simply AOE’s you to death combined with cripples, I’d just run around him with a scepter until it dies. The best arsenal to have is probably one of every weapon in your inventory.
