Is burn guard considered a "cheez" build?
if you can down them, respond to their taunts with a stomp.
it means THEY got me for " neg criticism in clever disguise".
Know that it has been fun and I love ya all.
Well.. it is and it isn’t.
If you down a Mesmer, he may say that you’re “burn cheese” and he’s the one with the perma stealth spikes. It took a bit of ingenuity for the Guard to know when to block, evade, and burst when the Mesmer isn’t invulnerable.
To a Thief, all you really have to do is JI, PF and Block.
ALL of your damages are done via blocks and utilities so yea, that would be easy cheese mode there.
(Extremely good Thieves can counter all of these to win but that’s besides the point)
For the most part though, Guardians are cheesy in lower tier pvp (solo pvp) but they can be more difficult to manage in higher tier comps with Ele/Necro/Bunker cleansing classes. (or just classes who know how to kite and cleanse)

What you missed:
Burn guard = cheese since burns were changed to stacking.
Burning is overtuned, at least on classes with solid ability to stack it (like guardian, ele, possibly ranger and engi). The burn build centers around an effect that hasnt been balanced yet.
Celestial Avatar is like an old man: Takes forever to get up and is spent in 4 seconds
I wouldn’t consider it cheese, it’s just that players often don’t evade the obvious blue fireballs from the torch or don’t have a reliable cleanse. If they can constantly cleanse, however, the burn becomes quite useless.
You know what’s cheese? Mozzarella
You know what isn’t cheese? A profession’s build.
Guardian’s burning capability isn’t a problem. The builds don’t prey on anyone unnaturally.
It is cheese if you play it in lower tear and engage a fight with…
Judges Intervention – Zealot’s Flame – Zealot’s Fire – Ring of Fire around the enemy for good measure and a Virtue of Justice somewhere in between
This literaly happens in 4sec and is enough burn to kill most enemies. It is cheese if you pull this off and the enemy does nothing about it. If your enemy expects a burn-guard and cleanses/dodges some core abilities it is a normal viable build.
I would actually call for a slight burn-nerf but then what build should I play against the other over the top builds? So I only want a burn-nerf acompanied by other balance changes.
PS: I want to note that the ‘rotation’ I posted above is complete crap and shouldn’t be used by guards that have some dignity and skill.

That’s a completely viable burst. Why would you assume there is dishonor in it? Your enemy doing nothing about the burn is the same as them doing nothing about a power burst. You can’t really control how your enemy reacts, even if you can try to influence it.
That’s a completely viable burst.
It depends. If you are running at a pointholder and he sees you coming from afar I would not engage like that because you completely empty your gun in the first 4sec (and he is expecting that) and after you hit like a wet noodle for some time, missing the gapcloser/stunbreak.
If, on the other hand, someone is setting a target for me in clocktower and I can “jump their bones” without being expected then this rotation withe the following ring of fire right on the cap-point is viable, yes.
I just don’t wanted to get flamed for beeing a noob that smashes all his cd’s right at the start of the fight. Now I got flamed for holding on to them cry xD

The “all of your damage” is the problem with “Burn Guards”. I hate running a block build. A denial build is just not fun for anyone! Hence why people call out the chesse terms. I’ve been trying to run a more active build but, a condi Guardian just synergizes horribly. Dragon Hunter just muddies it even further into meh. Someone needs to really sit down and go over Guardian again before HoT launches.
Yes, it’s pretty much cheese. It’s one of those builds which will probably get you flamed on a regular basis.
Ran. Burn guard for roaming, came across a Nike warrior, started taunting me cause he’d just keep running. Once I got in a comfortable range though he just melted and when he tried to fight back I would just block most of his attacks…..oh the things I got called:P. And that was my first time on my guard in WvW.
The annoying thing is just trying to break through the guard’s defenses while that burning is ticking. And then some classes like thieves and mesmers who rely on stealth and don’t have much Condi cleanse hate it.
Overall, I’d say it is cheesy, but everything in the game is that way in some form or another, and it relatively easy to counter a burn guard if you just time your cleanses right….or main a necro like I do and just send it all back. Haha.
It’s much easier, and less paperwork to list what isn’t considered cheese by someone somewhere.
