Just picked up a Guardian
Hammer. The autoattack + mighty blow are all you really need to power through most content. You can even kind of AoE grind with symbols, though not to the absurd extent of shortbow thieves.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Keep friends alive longer and make it more convenient for them in a dungeon. Thats how I usually think when I lay out skills before going in a dung. And also don’t forget guardian can do some major damage if you chose the right skills. Usually composes of 2 support “shouts” Signet of Mercy to revive a downed player easily, and elite skill depends on dung. Just see whatever works out best for yourself

Thanks for the tip.
Never tried the shortbow on the thief aside from infiltrating the environment. Yes.. I played around with their “5” still and it’s broken.
I’ve always wanted to feel for the Guardian as they feel like their in the shadow of the might Warrior, and they’re the class I’ve seen with hammers more than Greatswords.

Hammer is superior for multiple targets on Guardian.
I normally have mace/shield as my secondary. When my health gets low which doesn’t happen all that much, I switch to mace/shield which helps bring my health back up while still dealing damage.
I find the more defensive weapon choices to be mace, hammer, focus, & shield. Mace gives you straight healing & regen and hammer gives you protection and aoe cc.
For more offensive weapons I recommend 1h sword (single target), GS (aoe), & torch.
I liked to keep a set of each so for instance I’d have 1h sword/torch and then mace/focus to swap into if I needed the survivability. This works well at lower levels.
Guardians have a great selection of utilities so you should be able to take on a number of mobs at once with an aoe weapon and supplement with your shouts and signets.
Guardians don’t have the health pool Warriors do. What we do have are constant regen, blocks, & boons. These more than make up for less max hp, especially in a group setting where your shouts and boons help everyone.

Hammer/GS for lvling. You want the GS for DPS and the Hammer for any tricky situations. Its pretty straight forward. Go Valour then honour as both these lines offer both DPS and Defence.
