Guild Wars 2

I have recently started a Guardian as my first alt and I am working towards collecting what I need for my lvl 80 gear. My ideal build for this Guardian will be 0/15/30/20/5 (AH build) using GS/Staff. I play mainly PvE – Dungeons, FoTM and will eventually get into WvW (I doubt I’ll get into sPvP at all) so I am wondering what will be the best ‘gear set’ for me… Full Knight or Full Soldier. Which ever I choose for my gear I will choose the opposite for all accessories (they just added ‘Knight’ ascended accessories) and both of my weps will be Berserker.

Any advice would be great!

Ive been using Soldiers on my AH guardian for months. I can tell you the P/T/V is excellent, if you suffer damage a little. I run a bunker boon spammer and soldiers works really well. My build differs from yours, however. I usually run 0/0/30/30/10, so I would not benefit from Knights as much as you would with your added precision.

Knight’s armor with soldier runes served me well through PvE and WvW for both 15/30/20/5 and 30/30/10 specs. For trinkets you can go a mix of berserkers, knights and maybe 1 or 2 ascended rings with p/v/t depending on how you want to balance your stats among defense and offense.

i’d say knight’s with full soldiers is a good starting place. and like Shardun said, mix of berserkers and knight’s or even valkyrie for a mix of vit and crit dmg.

AH is a build that benefits from high toughness and crit so knight’s is always a good choice. if you go full PVT, i just feel the crit chance was too low (even if you went full kngiht’s trinkets. though depending on runes, you can also mix and match there.

a mix of soldier and knight’s armor always works as well if you wanna further fine-tune.

Just a note, if you’re using empowering might as a trait I would use knights gear over soldiers gear for the extra precision needed to proc those might stacks. For me, I dont usesoldiers gear bc with knights (not just armor of course) I still get over 3k armor and over 3.1k attack and around 47% crit chance with no buffs. I find it fits my playstyle nicely.
