Knights/Celestial/Ascended gear
Ascended vs Exotics the difference is minor and personally I will probably never bother with them unless they make them easier to obtain but onto the main question.
For dungeons most people run Berserker as it’s quicker to do the content and you don’t really need any further defence than dodge rolls in 9/10 cases. If you want to maintain some survivability you can run Knights for armour and Berserker accessories.
You haven’t missed out anything big with Celestial gear it’s kinda just a gimmick more than anything else so in all add Berserker gear to increase your damage output to a level your happy and then use whatever other gear you feel comfortable with for the rest such as knights.

I’d be quite happy with those numbers for WvW… maybe add a berserker weapon and a couple other beserker jewels to do dungeons. But yeah… Celestial seems pretty good for an all rounder. Not amazing, but you don’t have to carry a dozen bits of gear in your bag either.

You can run with this and do alright however I will warn you that PvE players tend not to be amazingly forgiving if people aren’t wearing full Berserker because they want to clear things as quickly as humanly possible and high HP and Toughness should not be needed if you can dodge well enough.

Also, I’ve been hearing you can now craft ascended gear. Should I not bother with new exotics and just work on ascended? Are the stats on ascended worth the time and resources to craft? I’m not the kind of person who likes gear treadmills. I want a build that is a good all rounder, and gear that will last me forever, so I can focus on the story content rather than spend 1000 hours sitting in front of a crafting table, wearing out my mouse.
What will take you a while is not the crafting (with a good guide you can hit 400 in under an hour), but the cash investment, especially going from 400-500. Unless you are independently wealthy, forget about it for now. Just get a full set of exotic in your preferred configuration, and then pepper in ascended trinkets as you are able to afford them with laurels. That’s power on the cheap, and will allow you to enjoy the story and open world content.
Here’s a link to the All-stat Guardian, only the Backpiece is not included so you can actually add +28 to all-stats

I actually havent had anyone being upset that I dont have full beserker set. No one has actually asked before.
Here is what I am running with currently:

(Yes I dont have any runes or jewels. Havent gotten round to it yet.)
I guess it’s not all that different from what has already been linked. And if it’s not all that different, now I am thinking maybe I should just leave myself as I am XD I mean, I have two norn cultural t3 transmuted onto my chest and leg piece. XD
Slightly reluctant to have to get them again.
I must say, the Celestial gear is appealing for it’s ‘bit of everything’ stats. I’m just not super keen on the time gating I’ve heard about it.

Might be because we’re on different Servers or maybe the people I end up going with have the Berserker addiction cause I’ve been asked nearly everytime I dungeon run if I’m full Zerker or not and I’ve seen plenty kicked for not having it.

I have never had people asked me. I run Celetrials with Zerkers, and my ascended celetrial weapon is a dead giveaway. I have never ever been kick because of it. It can’t really be server either, since dungeon LFG is not server dependent, I am also on the tier-1 hardcore server Blackgate.
If you run with your guild, and your guild mate requires it, then you really should rethink about the people you run with. I had joined an anal guild before, it was not fun.
I never get interrogated about my gear. People who PUG generally know what to expect from PUGs, and make the most of what they have available, since the alternative is that you don’t do the run.
If you read the pearl-clutching posts from the elitists here in the forums, you’d think that everyone was playing competitive Megaman instead of Guild Wars 2, but in reality folks tend to be understanding and reasonable.
Yes, another gear post. Sorry.
So I’ve recently come back to Guild Wars 2 after about 7 months break. I had been playing my guardian with full Cleric armor for a few months before I left. I really liked it and found it useful in the dungeons I frequent (CoF, AC, etc.) Even now I still love the playstyle, but suddenly I feel like I want to be more useful damage wise, but still retain some survivability. So I trawled the forums and I have gathered that Knights armor is a good way to go, even Knights with a few Zerker thrown in. But now I see there is something called Celestial gear. What are everyone’s thoughts on that? What even is Celestial gear? I feel like I’ve missed out on something big :/

Hi
If you have only 1-3 pieces ascended the difference is not noticable, but if you get all your jewelry + backpiece + weapon ascended, the difference is very easily noticable in every day every time play. This will become more noticable with ascended armor.
You can largely play whatever you like, but for me, I tend to run with 2 main stets, 1 DPS and 1 bunker, then I have some misc healing pieces which I sometimes use.
In general, I use a mix of zerker with 1-2 knights and 1-2 valk for PvE and PTV for WvW or when I need to carry nubs through content (meaning solo the dungeon bosses). I have relatively few clerics pieces, my max healing stat hits 1150ish with 25 stacks of healing power when I put on my heal gear and with full buffs.
I adjust per group performance if group is quick and smooth then I migth as well go for speed, if not, then go from there.
If you look through forum on the various topics of celestial gear, most seems to think they suck, yet most also seems to try to craft them.
Celestial is not for extremists. The logic of using Celestial is that they gives you the most total number of stats. You can mix it with a target stats gear to give you better result. For example, use few Celestial in a zerker set will give you more survivability than the damage sacrificed. However, I won’t recommend using full Celestials, while you may have the most total number of stats, but you end up not able to do well in anything.
IMO the ideal set is Celestial weapon and armors, with either zerker trinkets for dps, and cleric trinkets for survival.

I think if you equipped a beserker weapon and a couple of beserker trinkets no one would know. Even better a set of beserker armor with ruby jewels and you start to see some impressive numbers for dungeons.

I like this. I like this a lot. I think I’m going to give it a bash.
